If the Trump era has taught us anything, it's that large numbers of white people in the United States are motivated at least in part by racism in the voting booth. Donald Trump ran an openly racist campaign for president, calling Mexicans rapists and criminals, regularly retweeting white supremacists and at least initially balking at repudiating former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke.
Trump made it clear in his campaign that "Make America Great Again" meant that America was greater when white people's power was more sweeping and more secure. White voters approved of that message by a whopping 58 To 37 percent.
Some politicians deny the evidence, no doubt because they don't want to alienate white voters, including prejudiced ones. Other commentators try to parse whether Trump's racism will be a winning strategy in 2020. Terry Smith, visiting professor at the University of Baltimore School of Law, offers a different response in his new book, "Whitelash: Unmasking White Grievance at the Ballot Box."
Rather than excuse racist voters or try to figure out how to live with their choices, he argues that racist voting is not just immoral, but illegal. The government, Smith says, has the ability, and the responsibility, to address it.

Claiming racism is why Trump wins is nonsense on its face.
Trying to claim that a national election is bound by the rules of a union election or a jury verdict is insanity.
Calling this author a fool is an insult to fools everywhere.
Recycling the same old provable lies. Trump never said Mexicans are rapists - he said rapists and dangerous criminals were among those freely crossing the border. That’s an absolutely factual statement, and not the least bit racist.
The same voters who voted for him also voted for minority candidates on the ballot like Tim Scott, Marco Rubio, etc. If they were motivated by racism, why exactly would they do that? Trump got a larger share of the black vote and the Latino vote than Romney did 4 years prior. And so on, and so forth.

“Does he propose a double penalty for all of the Presidents non-white supporters?”
he kept dancing around that issue, but it was clear from reading in between the lines that he desperately wanted to revoke the right to vote from Trump voters ...
This “opinion” piece needs to be used in an critical thinking/argument class as an example of numerous fallacies....because there are many in this piece.

This is more than one man’s opinion. If you read it the author claims as a basis a book by a law professor Terry Smith. He’s an interesting guy who flip flopped on the N word being used in a class at DePaul, where he was a big “diversity” supporter. First he supported the professor who used the N word in class to get the black lawyers used to it (like they hadn’t ever used it themselves) and then he sued Depaul’s law school because the N word was used.
The law is a fluid thing in Chicago as we know from Jussie Smollet. Now Professor Smith has moved to Baltimore, that other bastion of justice. What a credible source for judging white voting ideas. Professor Smith of course is black.

Government should never, ever judge the worth of protected speech.
However, once government is out of the way we can hang the lot of them.

Trump correctly identified a problem of criminal illegal aliens coming across from Mexico. Rape trees in Southern California are a real thing. I have see.the photos and investigations by local news. I lived within walking distance of an area they were know to exist.
Trump recognizes Angel families who have seen their loved ones brutalized by illegal alien criminals and, in some cases, these are people who already had deportation orders or had been deported before.
Democrats have ignored the problem because of their own racist, selfish political agenda. That’s how problems persist and spread.
Can't be. Good satire has at least some basis in truth.
How exactly can Trump supporters be motivated by Racism? If so how would prove it and what could you do about. There are numerous examples in history if many things, including wars, caused by Racism, so what?
