Collins ranks as least-popular senator in new poll

A new poll ranks U.S. Sen. Susan Collins as the least popular senator.

The poll, released Thursday by the Morning Consult, found a 42 percent approval rate for Collins and 52 percent disapproval rate among Maine voters surveyed.

The fourth quarter ranking represents a 10 percent drop in Collins’ net approval rating.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R – KY, ranked as the second least popular senator with 50 percent of Kentucky voters disapproving of his performance.

The rankings are based on a survey given to 494,899 registered voters nationwide between Oct. 1 and Dec. 31. Participants could answer whether they strongly approve, somewhat approve, somewhat disapprove, strongly disapprove, or don’t know/ have no opinion on their U.S. senator.

Collins is up for re-election and faces what is expected to be the most expensive campaign of her career. She has recently come under scrutiny for her vote to support Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh and has faced pressure from both sides as President Trump’s impeachment trial unfolds.

If the Republicans have to lose a Republican senator, Collins is the one to lose.

Mitch really needs to take her to the woodshed.

Curiously timed release of this “poll”.

No no. I’m sure it’s all just a big coincidence. Why, to say so would mean this Portland Maine newspaper is trying to influence an election.

I know I think she’s a RINO. The GOP Senate has several that should be shown the door.

She’s the best senator a Maine Democrat could hope for.

It’s a national poll....The only voters she needs to be concerned with are the ones to the East of New Hampshire

Although national in scope, it is a poll of each state ranking thier senators.

Morning Consult’s Senator Approval Rankings
On a daily basis, Morning Consult is surveying over 5,000 registered voters across the United States on their senators. Each quarter, we’ll update this page with the latest survey data, providing an in-depth look at how all 100 U.S. senators stand with voters in their state.

She is almost singlehandedly responsible for Kavanaugh getting confirmed. She ought to be supported.

She almost single handley sunk the obviously outstanding Ratcliffe for DNI. Do you want to give her a medal for that, too? Pathetically, she thought Ratcliffe was too touch on Mueller. In doing so she denied a GOP POTUS under IC coupist assault a loyal DNI.

A GOP Senator voting for a qualified GOP SCOTUS nom should not be a big deal. If she was a Democrat and was a swing vote it would be expected of her by the party. I see no reason to give her a medal for that.

Murkowski is worse than Collins. Easily. Not even close.

No. Voters want a democrat in 2020. We are dumb if we lose this seat.

I do not see Murkowski as ever being a dependable Republican vote. She stays in office due to the democrat party that helps her get elected. Alaskan Republicans will have to find a way to recruit a candidate capable of defeating her.
And the Rep national committe has to get serious and involved in helping that candidate overcome the democrat votes. The Rep party leaders need to do what is necessary to penalize those candidates who claim to support the Rep party and when elected reverse that position and instead support the commie democrat party. Been going on far too long with Romney being the latest faux Republican.

Alaska: The odds are good, that the goods are odd. It is a totally bipolar place with many deranged people.
