The People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) has commissioned into service its first Type 055 Renhai-class large guided missile destroyer during ceremonies held at the Xiaokouzi Naval Base in Qingdao on 12 January 2020.

The ship, named Nanchang (101) is currently the largest and most advanced destroyer in the PLAN until its sisterships are commissioned, and is even larger than the US Navy’s Ticonderoga-class guided missile cruisers.

I don’t want even to think about how much stolen US tech is in this ship not to mention what the Clintons gave them.

I’m thinking swarms of drone boats with explosives. Aerial drones, too.

It displaces as much as a WWII US heavy cruiser. Serious.

I watched a series on amazon prime about the fellow who stole the technology in 2004 and passed it to the Chinese. I’m naive but why didn’t the USA at that moment cut off most favoured trade status with China ?

Only good thing is their stuff isn’t built to last, and has inferior components all across the board.

Even if that were true, which it is not, they are building lots of ships, planes, tanks, and so on - “Quantity has a quality all it own” - J Stalin- far outpacing the US and the rest of the world combined.

We build one high quality 5th gen plane; they build 100 cheap 5th gens - our plane shoots down 6 of them and runs out of ammo. The other 94 shoot down our plane. We build one super expensive carrier, CVN Ford, which does not work and may only be a proof of concept design, but decide to build 3 more just like it - just as we did with the DG1000 class destroyers.

By the time China becomes a true blue water navy, the US, at the rate it is going, will no longer be able to project power past the Caribbean - so horribly poor are the decisions of the Navy brass, burning billions and billions on cool looking toys while skimping on maintenance and spare parts for its existing fleet which is becoming, very slowly, undeployable.

Lucky for us, this isn't true... Yet.

The USA has 195 F-22 Raptors, and 300 F-35 Lightning IIs.

The PLA has 36 J-20s and 3 FC-31s.

The Russians have 10 SU-57s.

That is it for the world's CURRENT 5th generation combat aircraft.

F-22 number is much reduced to just around 180 or so. However raw numbers mean nothing ... what counts in Mission Ready number, which is much less than the raw number.

In the case of the F-35C, its around 4%; the other two (A, B) are in the 30%s. Most of the remainder are hanger queens or spare parts (of which there is a huge shortage). Meanwhile, the F-35 continues to use homemade software to perform many essential tasks as the ALIS does not work and is often the source of the problem.

The F-22 requires a lot of maintenance after each mission, but it MR rate is far higher then the F-35 - all varieties; only 120 F-22 are combat coded, less are MR. AND the F22 still does not have a heads up display.

The Russian have 112 (according to wiki - an untrustworthy source) SU-35s which are F-22 killers on paper.

With China there is a logistics problem for the US - the Chinese have enough area denial weapons to keep our carriers out of flight range of the mainland, while the J-20 is tasked with taking out our air refueling and over-watch planes to create holes for missiles and J-10s to filter through.

FC-31s are carrier-based which means that they have limited ranges and payloads due to the current carrier ski-jump configuration - this will change when the next 4 carriers come out of the shipyards soon - one of which will use an EMALs launch system.

Look, all I did was prove your 100 Chinese to every one American fifth gen fighter was fiction. The rest is ya buts...

However raw numbers mean nothing ... what counts in Mission Ready number, which is much less than the raw number.

Dude...

That applies to every country, not just the USA.
