PSA honoring Botham Jean’s life will be shown during Super Bowl as part of NFL partnership

A public-service announcement honoring the life of Botham Jean will be shown during the Super Bowl as part of a partnership between the Jean family’s foundation and the NFL, according to the family’s lawyer.

The 2-minute video was released online Wednesday and shows the “human cost of police brutality” from the Jean family’s perspective, said attorney Lee Merritt.

Jean, 26, was fatally shot in his own apartment in 2018 by former Dallas officer Amber Guyger, who was convicted of murder last year and is now serving a 10-year prison sentence.

Merritt said the video, produced by Jay-Z’s company Roc Nation and the NFL and narrated by the Jeans, didn’t come without its own controversy, noting the backlash Colin Kaepernick and other players faced when they protested police brutality on the field.

“Since then, the NFL has worked to see what they could do to try to right their wrongs,” Merritt said. “This isn't the compromise that I was hoping for. I was hoping that the players would be released to resume their on-the-field protest. But this is a step in the right direction.”

The Jean family was at first reluctant to work with the NFL to create the video for those reasons, he said.

My example is not as bad as that, but I get annoyed by this stupid “2020 election chess set” that plays on Buzzr. I just want to watch my game shows and get away from politics for a while, but no. It’s a non-partisan ad, but it’s still annoying to have to hear the names Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer. Who is this set even for? The left hates President Trump and wouldn’t want it, and I hate most of the others (the aforementioned and Sotomayor, Bush, and John Roberts, the latter two being cast as allies of the president). The only amusing thing about is is that they say, “Since the Democrat nominees have not been selected, we will send you empty podiums for now.” That’s pretty fitting. 😁

They had another one of this type during a recent playoff game. Are they trying to get cops killed? How about they show the shirt that was being sold with the picture of a dead officer on the front. The caption was one down, many more to go.. or something to that effect.

I think it’s tragic what happened to this guy.

This is not the time or place to pull this stunt.

It will wind up with police officers being killed.

At a time when people no longer have to make bail, semi serious crimes are not being prosecuted, and officers are being ridiculed openly, we are headed for some very serious problems.

The Leftists chaos is playing out just as designed.

In five to ten years, we may look back at the Leftists today, and realize we had it good now.

This woman committed a crime of heinous negligence and is rightly doing hard time for it. But, I don’t think this was a case of “police brutality” as that phrase might be commonly understood.

And why is the NFL, who has just this year climbed out of the pit they dug with their anti-American antics reviving this contentiousness now?

Jean’s death was a tragic mistake and the shooter had her day in court and was found guilty. There was no police brutality involved whatsoever.

Indeed. A terrible case to use for this purpose. She was justifiably convicted of murder. What more do you want?
