While Virginia Democrats are merrily approving gun control laws aimed at the state’s legal gun owners, they apparently aren’t interested in focusing on violent criminals who use firearms in the commission of a crime.
HB 1175 would have increased the penalty for using or brandishing a firearm while committing certain felonies, which seems like a pretty common sense bill to me. Instead, members of the House Public Safety Committee rejected the measure on Tuesday, while approving a number of gun bills that are meant to restrict the rights of legal gun owners in the name of public safety.

Of course, Del. Helmer also says closing the National Rifle Association range is going to save lives instead of making it harder for northern Virginia gun owners to find a range and train with their firearms, so I don’t exactly consider him an expert on “reasonable” gun laws. I see him as more of an anti-gun zealot intent on stripping people of their constitutionally protected rights, to be honest.
The Virginia Shooting Sports Association noted that several gun control advocates lobbied against the bill as well.
Both Lori Haas and Andrew Goddard as well the Northam representative spoke against the bill.

So they’re okay with making it a felony to continue to possess your 15-round magazine or to transfer a firearm without a background check, but the status quo is fine when it comes to punishing those who use guns

Apparently the Rats do not want to prosecute violent felons for gun crimes already on the books, but prefer to make felons of patriotic, 2nd Amendment supporting, common sense Virginia citizens.
Virginia democrats know what they're doing - they're setting the stage for disarming law biding citizens. We ARE their target. And criminals you ask? They're part of the democrat base.
i guess if people want to have rights in Virginia, and get protection, they have to become criminals, so the left won’t go after them- because law abiding citizens who own guns are the only unacceptable people in Virg it looks like according to leftie ideology
If they’re going to pass a law that says “the state will not prosecute crimes committed with guns” I might not be opposed to their gun control laws.

I really do not see a problem with this. All they really need to control criminals are more gun free zones and more signs on entrance doors of buildings saying guns are not allowed.
And if they take guns away from law abiding citizens, then we all know criminals will never be able to get a gun.
It’s all common sense. It’s all for the common good and for the children.

We all should know by now that the so-called law abiding citizens who own guns are violent racist homophobe bigots.
On the other hand, the so-called criminal with a gun is a victim and must be protected from further abuse at the hands of the former.
Thus, the Second Amendment only applies to the so-called criminal who’s rights must be protected in law.
See how easy that was?
These rat bastards in control of blue states are purposely creating a situation where the criminals are now protected by the government and the citizenry are being disarmed. This will not turn out good
