THE White House has livestreamed a church service which saw the US vice-president speak and a bishop claim “the devil” causes homosexuality.
After Mike Pence addressed the congregation in Tennessee, the preacher took to the pulpit to talk about same-sex relations in a sermon still available on the administration’s YouTube channel.
“It is a demonic spirit that causes a woman to want to live with another woman,” he said. “It is a demonic spirit that causes a man to be attracted to another man.”
The preacher, who has been named as Bishop Jerry Wayne Taylor, claimed the “devil” was trying to “destroy the foundation of marriage” and “cut off the reproduction process”.
“Two men can’t have a baby. Two women can’t have a baby,” he told the crowd at the Holy City Church of God in Christ.
The White House has been condemned on social media for streaming the sermon.
One person tweeted: “Did I misunderstand the part about separation of church and state?”
The vice-president – known for his religious conservatism – said he visited the Memphis church to celebrate its anniversary and Martin Luther King, the day before a national holiday commemorated the civil rights leader.
After Mr Pence spoke, the bishop told the crowd homosexuality was against nature.
“You never see two male animals coming together,” he said – though research has found that over 1,500 species engage in homosexual behaviour.
The White House defended Mr Pence from accusations of homophobia by claiming the fact he met Taoiseach Leo Varadkar and his partner showed he was not “anti-gay”, but Donald Trump reportedly once joked Mr Pence “wanted to hang all gay people”.
If sex is only for procreation explain this verse to me, please. It’s an honest question, no bull.

I read a study out of Oxford debunking the claim as well. I also should have saved it somewhere. The gist of it was that the claim comes from the authors engaging in category error. Animals have a limited number of behaviors. Sometimes they’ll use similar behaviors for different reasons. (ex: dogs mount other dogs as an expression of dominance) This is not homosexuality. Dogs don’t try to engage in reproductive behavior with the same sex.
Sexual attraction and sexual behavior, rather, is only for the purpose of procreation, as nature intends it. But if you were to ask “What about people who are sterile? Why do they have sex?”, I would respond that sterility is an abnormality. Now if you will admit that homosexuality is also an abnormality, we can finally agree.
Apparently that person misunderstood all of it.

Yes. The First Amendment, as shown by many writings of Founders, did not mean the government could not affirm religious faith, or its source, and even the general religion of the Bible,or its morality, which many Founders did , without establishing a state religion all needed to affirm. Yet it made laws that flow from religious faith of the Founders and their electors, and which all are to obey, though a minority find these offensive.
Animals eat their own poop and don’t respect consent or age appropriate ‘rules’. Even interspecies rape can occur.

I figure a lot of the evidence attached to a political or social agenda is cherry picked. That’s what happened with climategate, when the U.N. scientists deleted data that didn’t match their predetermined conclusion. Science mixed with just about anything else always equates to bad science.
I think we are in agreement. Homosexuality is a mental illness caused by childhood sexual abuse. I have counseled more than fifty homosexual adults and the one common trait? Molested during their formative years. I believe that sex is God’s gift to man. I also believe that Sarah was expressing a desire for physical intimacy with Abraham even though her comment and laughter indicated that she did not believe that pregnancy would result.
Yes, I agree with you on all points. In many cases, who knows how many because there have been no serious studies, homosexuality was imprinted due to some childhood trauma. And it’s only getting worse now that society accepts it as “normal”, even praiseworthy. There is even an 11 to 1 disparity in the number of child molesters who are homosexuals vs heterosexuals. They repeat what was done to them in order to mentally accept what was done to them.
