Maybe a million other people have those files too. And if someone felt too squeamish to download them from the net someone else probably has them on a thumb drive they could find.

Miss the point much?

Panic legislation regarding 3D printed firearms is foolish at best.
Home-made firearms do not require nearly that much tech.

Need proof, just look up how the citizens got rid of Chauchesku.

3D printers can print parts of most any powdered metal, heat treatment is the only process left to be done.

Think MIM( metal injection molding) polymerized metals injected into molds the the polymer vaporized away during hear treatment.

I watched a 1911 be printed out of 4140CM, heat treated and assembled and fired in less than 6 hours.

Now, just need to print propellants and primers....

Every gangbanger is sitting at home with their 3D printer just waiting for the regulation to change so they can make their 3D plastic gun.

I don't know about that, but I do know someone that is anxiously awaiting the release of Cody Wilson's Ghost Gunner 3 CNC milling machine.

I doubt your average gangbanger cares about the "legally manufacture" part, but they might find the unserialized feature to be of interest.

"Panic legislation regarding 3D printed firearms is foolish at best."

Legislation concerning home-built firearms is not foolish, it is evil. It is an attempt to further quash the rights of free men and women to defend themselves. What is foolish is comparing modern technology capable of building modern weaponry in a home workshop to zip guns made out of car antennas.

I'm also apparently missing your point on Ceausescu as the video I saw of his execution showed him and his wife being put up against a wall and riddled with bullets from automatic rifles. Did I miss seeing someone walk up and give him a coup de grace with a 22 out of an antenna gun? Or were you referring to the brave Romanian freedom fighters battling the forces of their communist masters with their bamboo cannons?

Apparently you did not find the reports of HOW the citizens armed themselves.
Pretty simple, they made zip guns and slam-fire shotguns to obtain “Real” guns from the security forces.
An un-armed populace will quickly arm itself once the outrage reaches sufficient force.
Once enough of the security forces found themselves with real opposition and bullet cooing their way, they joined the populace.
This is what the socialist here fear, so they continually try to disarm us, and to prevent our having ANY means of frustrating that goal.
It has never worked and never will work.

So again, to be ultimately clear, YES zip guns are relevant as they too are improvised weapons, that can be made even with the power shut off.

Zip guns are completely irrelevant in this country considering the number of guns already in the hands of the citizenry - and the number of guns that will remain in their hands for generations to come even as restrictions on gun ownership are further tightened. Anybody with the balls to stick a zip gun in a cop's ribs to take his gun will already have access to a real firearm to use in beginning his task of acquiring more, and better, weapons.

The legislation this post is talking about is a big deal because technology is reaching the point where untraceable, fully functional weapons can be made in home workshops by relatively unskilled hobbyists. Our would-be masters fear that capability and are making the effort to restrict not only our ability to purchase weapons but also our access to the tools to build them for ourselves. This is a relatively new front in our battle against the gun grabbers and has nothing to do with your grandpa's zip gun.

It doesn’t take much skill to build an AR15 from an 80% lower, a little patience and basic shop tools, drill press and an XY vise is all.
