U.S. Senator Susan Collins said on Monday the case for calling witnesses in President Donald Trump’s Senate impeachment trial had been strengthened by a New York Times report on a book manuscript by former Trump adviser John Bolton.
“The reports about John Bolton’s book strengthen the case for witnesses and have prompted a number of conversations among my colleagues,” Collins said in a statement she posted to Twitter.

I think the obvious calls are the IG and maybe the Peek guy who was removed from the NSA. Since the IG was already a witness, that should be simple.
They crumbs - Collins, Romney etc. were just waiting for an excuse. They think that being magnanimous, CNN/NYT/etc will treat them with respect.
This reminds me of Jeff Flake getting cornered in an elevator by so-called rape victims toward the end of the Kavanaugh hearings, and changing his mind about further investigation.
We have GOT to stop saying Yes to these people.

You know, there are probably plenty of people in her state who support Trump. He did win a delegate. Her public persona is that of someone who is completely anti Trump. She votes with him but she’s not willing to stand with him. At some point she should stand for something not just splitting the baby. If she votes with Trump so often but can’t bring herself to praise anything he’s done that she supported, it has to make people think she’s not the one to pull the country in the right direction
We don’t know for sure that Bolton is the one responsible for the timing. When did he submit the manuscript? Whoever leaked it is responsible for the timing along with the New Swamp Times.
A member of the "most deliberative body" in the world should want to absolutely reject being manipulated like that and declare that they are not tools of someone else's schemes.
Instead, our Republicans fall for it EVERY time!

the big shock here is that the NY Times is willing to utterly destroy any little credibility they still had by letting Clinton operative Maggie Haberman hijack the paper for this trash.
This will hurt them very badly, imo.

Probably because he hasn't already come out and denied it.
And more days that Sanders, Warren, Klobuchar (and I cannot remember the other Senators running for the Dems) will not be on the campaign trail. Of course, that will probably only help their popularity.
I’m a numbers guy and I want her to win. I also looking forward at 2022 which is even worse for republicans in the senate and again trump won’t be on the ticket. It’s foolish to hope any republicans lose. If we lose the senate due to selfishness it’s over anyway no matter who wins the presidential election. I wish there were more who look at it by numbers instead of the spoiled brat way where they don’t get 100 percent but 90 percent and is not good enough. You obviously think Collins is from Mississippi or somewhere deep red. Nope she’s the last republican in the New England area. We already lost the west coast and almost New England. The south west is going that direction. So is your purity working??????
Bolton’s best play was getting on fox daily pretending to support Trump to get himself a seat at the table. The likes of Mark Levin, whom many trust, gave him credence and he used that.
It really is funny to me. This whole thing has been entertaining to me since Nancy chose to light this thing.
I see all paths as being catastrophic to the democrats. But even then, it won’t be like in the movies. It will be a slow moving disaster.
When I watch Schiff or nancy speak, they are simply speaking to the low-information voters. But that group is dwindling, and they usually either don’t vote or vote party line anyway.
I’m really enjoying this.
