Alexander Statement on Impeachment Witness Vote (he's a no)
www.alexander.senate.gov ^ | 1/30/2020 | Senator Lamar Alexander

Posted on 01/30/2020 8:07:35 PM PST by CaptainK

“There is no need for more evidence to prove that the president asked Ukraine to investigate Joe Biden and his son, Hunter; he said this on television on October 3, 2019, and during his July 25, 2019, telephone call with the president of Ukraine. There is no need for more evidence to conclude that the president withheld United States aid, at least in part, to pressure Ukraine to investigate the Bidens; the House managers have proved this with what they call a ‘mountain of overwhelming evidence.’ There is no need to consider further the frivolous second article of impeachment that would remove the president for asserting his constitutional prerogative to protect confidential conversations with his close advisers.

IIRC, Joe Manchin is expected to be a no for witnesses.

From Lamar!'s statement .....

There is no need for more evidence to conclude that the president withheld United States aid, at least in part, to pressure Ukraine to investigate the Bidens; the House managers have proved this with what they call a 'mountain of overwhelming evidence.'

What a load of Bovine Scatology.

This PHASE is over. Now the Dems will move on to milking every drop of “He’s been impeached” in the runup to November. We are going to hear it nonstop for almost eleven months.

No because there’s no role for the Chief Justice in the Senate. He’s from a different branch of the government.

Alexander can vote to convict but he’s finished in GOP politics. Good thing he’s retiring...

Then Romney should get nothing of any value from the Republican Party, ever again. Draft dodging lowlife.

Rules for Impeachment is 50/50 is a fail

Watch the Dems try to change the rules so that a tie is unacceptable and votes must be taken until a majority is reached.

(Interview on Fox with Senator Cruz. At the end with the Fox newsperson signaling the interview end, Curz rushes to say that tomorrow it will be over and Trump will be convicted!!)

You're wrong.

In the case of a tie He votes, there is no role for Pence here.

The VP would have a conflict of interest if he presided over a presidential trial of impeachment.

So that’s why he’s excluded from presiding over the Senate.
