The San Diego region will get $300 million in federal funding for a new U.S. facility to capture sewage spills from Mexico before they foul shorelines north of the border.

The Los Angeles Times says the money will be allocated thanks to language included in the overhaul of the North American Free Trade Agreement signed by President Trump on Jan. 29.

San Diego already process a lot of TJ’s sewage at Pt. Lima sewage treatment plant. The line to it goes right down Harbor Dr. and there is a pumping station and standby pump right by the airport.
