Coronavirus will delay export ‘boom’ from US-China phase 1 trade deal, President's Economic Adviser Larry Kudlow says

* President Donald Trump’s economic advisor Larry Kudlow said Tuesday that the deadly Chinese coronavirus outbreak will dent a surge in exports that is expected to flow from the first “phase” of the U.S.-China trade deal signed last month.

* “It is true the trade deal, the phase one trade deal, the export boom from that trade deal will take longer because of the Chinese virus. That is true,” Kudlow said in a Fox Business Network interview.

* But Kudlow noted that the Trump administration, which imposed travel restrictions and quarantines in response to the coronavirus last week, still projects “minimal impact” from the fast-spreading disease.

President Donald Trump’s economic advisor Larry Kudlow said Tuesday that the deadly Chinese coronavirus outbreak will delay a surge in exports that is expected to flow from the first “phase” of the U.S.-China trade deal signed last month.

“It is true the trade deal, the phase one trade deal, the export boom from that trade deal will take longer because of the Chinese virus. That is true,” Kudlow said in a Fox Business Network interview.

But Kudlow noted that the Trump administration, which imposed travel restrictions and quarantines in response to the coronavirus last week, still projects “minimal impact” from the fast-spreading disease.

“The world is not in Wuhan province,” Kudlow said.

The partial trade deal signed on Jan. 15 includes several provisions to address issues including forced technology transfers and intellectual property theft, which Trump has complained about for years. It also includes a $200 billion increase in Chinese purchases of U.S. goods over two years — a priority for Trump.

But the coronavirus, which has infected more than 20,000 people in China and killed more than 400, has struck fear in investors and raised doubts about Chinese business.

On an average day, 30,000 people die in China naturally. They are quarantining millions, shutting down their industries, and even defense manufacturing over this virus.

Anyone who believes the infected/death numbers from the ChiComs should think again.

Wuhan is closed, but the air quality is terrible from smog.

I think it’s bad, but what they’re really worried about is enough depopulation down the road to seriously impact their country. China was already getting depopulated in certain areas, and their one-child policy meant that they were not hitting replacement rate with their births. So losing a large number of people, especially younger ones, could be a serious problem.

So much for the overpopulation doomsayers...the fact is that under-population is more of a threat to human economies and human life in general.

Forget surge, how about simply importing spare parts for what we have? Already Hundai is cutting back because of disruptions from China, and now that the New Year is over, things will get very, very, interesting here.

I gather bird flu has infected a few people in part of China as well as this bugger. Their imports from and exports to the rest of the world are going to both take a big hit.

Well, except for exporting wealthy Chinese with sufficient connections to leave the country using something other than a Chinese passport.

Be on the look out for big guys who look like Winnie the Pooh and have Vietnamese passports. If it's really the Pooh, he'll have an entourage. You know, Piglet, Rabbit, Eeyore, Tigger, Owl, his usual crowd.

Smog is a contraction of SMoke and fOG.

Industry and transport in Wuhan are shut down. Where do you suppose the smoke is coming from?

Bring Out Your Dead

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

*sigh* Such is life, and death...

If a quarantine saves just one child's life, it's worth it.

The “koranavirus” is a far greater threat to our Constitutional Republic.

I guess we really going to find out whether that trade agreement was worth the cost of the paper it was printed on.

I just don’t trust the Chinese to keep their part of the agreement.

Shipping stuff from US to China shouldn’t be a problem. Getting paid shouldn’t be either just have the ChiComs knock it off of the debt we owe them. Returning ship should slow down so voyage takes minimum of 6 weeks.

If every couple has 2 ids and everyone lives to 100 the average age will be 50. Not good unless 50 is the new 30.

Delay?
............
No one in Hong Kong or Szenchen Province can go to work until 2/10/20.
..........
There could easily be a longer work stoppage.
..........
No exports of packaged goods from China. It will wreck their economy.
..........
Now we find out that the bug can live for days on smooth surfaces..........
...........
Like packaged goods. Once they start moving again, we could have major breakouts all over the world.
