US closes case against ex-FBI boss McCabe with no charges

Federal prosecutors have declined to charge former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, closing an investigation into whether he lied to federal officials about his involvement in a news media disclosure, McCabe’s legal team said Friday.

The decision resolves a criminal investigation that spanned more than a year and began with a referral from the Justice Department’s inspector general, which said McCabe repeatedly lied about having authorized a subordinate to share information with a newspaper reporter for a 2016 article about an FBI investigation into the Clinton Foundation.

McCabe’s lawyers said in a statement they were told in a phone call and letter that the case is closed and “no charges will be brought against him based on the facts.”

McCabe, a frequent target of attacks from President Donald Trump, has denied that he intentionally misled anyone. He has said his 2018 firing — for what the Justice Department called “lack of candor” — was politically motivated. He sued the Justice Department in August, saying officials had used the inspector general’s conclusions as a pretext to rid the FBI of leaders Trump perceived as biased against him.

In a letter on Friday, prosecutors told McCabe’s lawyers that they decided “not to pursue criminal charges against your client” after careful consideration.

“Based on the totality of the circumstances and all of the information known to the government at this time, we consider the matter closed,” said the letter, signed by the chief of the U.S. attorney’s office’s public corruption unit.

The decision was revealed at the week of startling tensions between Trump and the Justice Department over the treatment of one of the Republican president’s longtime allies and confidants, Roger Stone.

the chief of the U.S. attorney’s office’s public corruption unit.

.. is a tool of the Left. Sad. The Republic deserves better than justice delayed and justice denied.

Are you really under the impression that nobody has been working to turn this thing around?

Look around out there. Conservatism is exploding on the right and Blacks and other minorities are buying in.

The Left and our government are not.

In Sept 2019, Jessie Liu (who was US DC Attny, and yes the same person Trump pulled her nomination this week), she recommended moving forward with prosecuting McCabe. His attorneys appealed all the way up to Deputy AG, Rosen..... Rosen refused the appeal, and wrote a letter back to McCabe’s attorneys...... (there is a FOX news story on this from Sept 2019)....

So the “swamp” , all the way up to Deputy AG, basically recommended moving forward with prosecution... Now 6 months later, the decision is changed to NOT prosecute.... So who could have made this decision????? Barr !!!!!

What the heck is Trump afraid of? He needs to fire AG Bill Barr...
***************************************

How can one not presume, and be extremely concerned about, that Trump knew exactly what he was getting in Barr?

Can’t help to think that voting apathy will result from this and similar future decisions. And if and when Democrats regain power, they will be more emboldened than ever and we will be in real, real trouble. Not good President Trump.

Sadly in many ways he has been his own worst enemy when it comes to picking his team.

I wonder how much of it is due to the fact that in his former life he could hire and fire people at will, so a personell mistake could be easily fixed. Such is not the case in government.

Meanwhile, the Virginia Governor and Legislature thinks who their Citizens who own Semi Automatic Rifles and Magazines that hold more than ten rounds should be subject to Arrest and Conviction of Felonies.

If you lie, suborn justice and commit treason, you skate.

Not surprised Andrew McCabe is a free man. The Deep State looks after its own.

Is it possible McCabe flipped and they are letting him off for his fibs?

Is it possible McCabe will be charged with a bigger crime like conspiracy to commit treason?

I agree. Trump wanted him as well, but was advised not to appoint him because of "Bridge-gate."

Also Christie was the prosecutor who put Jared Kushner's father in jail. - Tom

Plus they share the same personality in a way

Both are no nonsense

Both say what they mean

Both were friends, which sessions or barr were never friends of President Trump, sure Sessions was a supporter.

Mueller would have NEVER been appointed by Christie, there would not have been a Mueller investigation, there would have never been a Dem take over in 2018 and there would have never been an impeachment

So this means the special investigator Durham has no meaning whatsoever?

Kabuki theater. All of it. Too many Republicans would fall if the swamp were actually to be drained. The traitors are firmly in control, regardless of what anyone says. AND WE FALL FOR IT, EVERY TIME!!!

A radio piece I heard on this also said the decision was by the US Atty for DC. Which I think would imply it is limited to this matter and that he's not out of risk by Durham. Although the MSM will doubtless spin it that way and whine loudly IF Durham actually does something against McCabe.

The selection bias of the DC jury pool is a problem in need of a solution, if we are using them to indict and try corruption by top Federal officials and their associates. The left will get off automatically, like this, and the right will get crucified automatically regardless of the evidence, cf. the perjurious Roger Stone jury forewoman.

You speak like Trump has a choice who he pics, that is not true. mcconnell has the final say on Trumps cabinet picks. For obumber, it was "he deserves to pick his own cabinet". For Trump, it's he can pick from mcconnel approved deep staters.
