“...in communities like Bell, a working-class, mainly Latino city of 35,000 people near Los Angeles...”

Think back. Wasn’t Bell the city controlled by the Latino mafia that was paying the mayor $400,000, the council members hundreds of thousands, etc.?

Bell is one of those cities with eight people and a billion dollar city government payroll.

Immigrant != undocumented foreign national”””

As a resident of Nevada, I can assure you that the population of ILLEGAL INVADERS in Las Vegas & Clark County is VERY high. Reno also has a large percentage, but the largest casinos & hotels are in LV.

They not only have been voting illegally for years, during the caucuses in 2012 & 2016, the hotels were using their shuttle busses to take the illegal workers to & from the caucuses & allowing them to vote. There were no controls at those caucuses. One voter was a 15 year old illegal who came with her mother to the caucus ON the shuttle bus.

"With the limited exceptions of Cubans and Venezuelans Latinos who have actually lived under socialism, the Hispanic diaspora to the United States is dominated by poor people who are reflexively Left and socialist in their home countries."

Only eight people, or only eight *legal* people?

For the last hundred years or so, Latin American countries have mostly cycled between socialist regimes and corrupt, nominally capitalist ones. This reflects a more or less permanent competition between socialist and conservative parties for power and loot, with the parties based on class divisions between rich and poor. In many instances, elite families play both sides and benefit no matter who wins power.

Even when the socialist regimes win power and make an obvious mess of things, they tend to take care of their supporters, who in turn blame the eventual collapse or ouster of the socialists as caused by capitalist and American manipulations. Fleeing to the US for work, such poor migrants remain adamant Leftists. In the US, they eagerly enlist as Democrats.
