Excellent
His summation was the "ruling class" and the "people in charge" are all conspiring to do something (he's vague as to what) and in the process are screwing everything up and screwing the "regular people" like us over.
He never defines who these people in charge are, but we know they're doing all this from their "decadent little bubbles of affluence". We also know their conspiracy is responsible for the deficit, the shift away from a manufacturing economy, outsourcing, the Trump administration's warning that Russia wants to meddle in 2020, and probably the decline in the quality of broadcast TV.
Of course there's no responsibility for us voters who elected the politicians, or us consumers who demand the lowest cost products and refuse to pay a premium for US made goods and force our manufacturers to offshore production.
No, that doesn't work because then we would have to take some accountability for our actions. Much better to whip up some resentment against some nebulous "ruling class" as if they won't be replaced by the new "ruling class" the minute we overthrow them.
What do you suggest for a solution?
First, stop looking for simplistic explanations for very complex problems. Admit that there isn't some dark conspiracy of people in charge who cause all our problems.
More importantly, do the hard, slow, frustrating work of electing decent people who want to solve problems and then hold them accountable.
Finally, accept that our Constitutional system won't work without compromise. For better or worse we have system that requires something approaching consensus and just won't work if we have half the country as absolute winners and the other half as absolute losers on every issue.
You're the one calculating the necessary exemption. What other factors did you include in your fancy multivariate analysis? Or didn't you try to model the real world either?
