The Health Ministry on Saturday said nine South Koreans tested positive for the coronavirus after a recent visit to Israel.
The Koreans were in Israel from February 8-15 and were confirmed to have the virus upon their return to South Korea, according to a statement from the ministry.
The ministry called on anyone who was in close contact with the Koreans to report this and self-quarantine for 14 days from the date of their last interaction. Chuncheon, South Korea, February 22, 2020. (Yonhap/AFP)

It also posted a list of places the group visited, among them Netanya, Caesaria, Nazareth, the Sea of Galilee, the Dead Sea, Beersheba, Jerusalem and the West Bank city of Hebron.
The statement from the ministry came shortly after a BBC reporter in Seoul said seven South Koreans from a tour group to Israel of 77 organized by the Catholic Church tested positive for the virus upon their return home.
It was not clear whether they were carrying the virus when they arrived in Israel. Symptoms of the virus can take up to two weeks, and possibly longer, to present. South Korea has reported over 400 cases of the virus to date.

Gotta die of sumpin
And yeah it seems this thing is just getting rolling
It might be interesting to see the flight records of
the various aircraft they flew on, and their previous
destinations.
Wow, I knew we were getting to be “end game”. I wasn’t thinking next week though.
gnip
Right now it seems to be international air travel.
Lets hope it stays limited to that
Bring Out Your Dead
Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
If a quarantine saves just one child's life, it's worth it.
Corona virus is really sumpin...
It was not clear whether they were carrying the virus when they arrived in Israel.
*****************************************
With near certainty, this group carried the virus when they arrived in Israel. But for future groups who are found to be infected after leaving Israel we wont be able to say the same thing.
In before Moonbeam saying they have “51 Million Koreans”!
(implying nothing to worry about)
“And yeah it seems this thing is just getting rolling”
Yea, the thing about having 51 Million South Koreans and well under 10 known cases (I think) when they left for Israel (Feb 7), is that South Korea must have had MANY MORE cases even back then - in fact, it’s possible that they were red hot with the virus, and didn’t even realize it. No coverup by the government, just one nasty virus that is next to impossible to control.
Yeah I’m not afraid of dying nearly as much as suffering horrifically before doing so.
Drowning in my own fluids..gasping for air and realizing in horror that I cannot get any while I slowly expire over minutes and hours of desperately searching for a breath doesn’t sound like the best way to go.
But that’s just me :)
I am a very old woman. If I die, I still already lived a long life. But I have kids and grand kids. I hope they all outlive me! And I have a husband. Together over 49 years. I don’t want to live one day without him.
FReepmail.
What are the ‘self isolation’ guidelines?
Does it mean don’t go to work? Don’t use building elevator buttons? Don’t go to the grocery store? We can assume the CDC hasn’t bothered with guidelines, but has Israel put out directions yet?
We’re not going to have a second chance to stop the spread...
My son just spent 3 weeks in Japan and S Korea and is home. Was there a few weeks ago as well. Im not very concerned for either of us. The health care for those in China is incomparable to ours which accounts for the gruesome stories.

A good chunk of the Chinese population may be starting to figure out that emperor has no clothes.
