I imagine he’s said that exact same spiel for forty years or so, if not more. It’s burned in to his brain.
Last time Joe ran for the Senate was 2008. Concurrently, he ran for VP. Delaware law allowed him to run for both offices at the same time. He was sworn in as a senator on Jan 6, 2009 and resigned on January 15, 2009 after casting his last Senate vote to approve TARP. He was sworn in as VP on Jan 20.
