In a rational country, Catholic and private school enrollment should be booming. My son, now 23, never set foot in a government-run school. His mother and I very proud of this.

If you love your children, take them out of government-run indoctrination centers.

The Catholic school I went to, Jesuit Dallas, is doing great. New stadium, massive new athletics building-ish (attached to the main building), a whole new classroom wing on the other side... Enrollment is about 100 over when I went, And tuition has *only* doubled since I went there. Hopefully it won't double again by the time the kiddo's ready to go :/

I have no idea how selective Jesuit is by the numbers, but I do know it's the best out of the DFW area private schools. Admissions page says around a 60th percentile on the ISEE (Independent School Entrance Exam) will get you accepted, though that's not the only factor in the process. No clue how that compares to anywhere else, though public HS would, obviously, be down to the zeroeth percentile.
