I'd say the fact that they were Catholic was more of a prejudice on the part of Protestants, and that they were assimilated because they wanted to be Americans, not Irish, Italian, or whatever, but Americans.

Anecdotally I know this is not true of certain newer immigrant communities, as workers come over here, live 10-20 in a multifamily, and ship their money back to their relatives elsewhere. They want to come here, make money, and then return to their native country.

The number of illegals in this country has been shown in numerous other “studies” to be two or three times greater than that amount. 10.6 million illegals was the number being thrown around when Reagan was first elected in 1980. It is almost a joke that leftists are still using that number 40 years later. But we can thank the author of this piece for repeating the lie so that we know what follows is BS. Paraphrased, “We can have open borders because all the people who have spent every dime they have got and risked their lives to come here from 3rd world sh@thole countries will just go back on their own.”

Any time there’s an income differential, people are gonna head over to the country with higher incomes. The smaller the differential, the smaller the illegal cohort. Polish incomes are 50% higher than Mexican incomes but 1/2 South Korean incomes, and we get all the nationalities as illegals. Fairly tiny from South Korea because the income differential is small. President Trump needs to do something else. Push through a law making it much easier for Americas to permanently surrender their citizenship and move to another country willing to grant them theirs.

Literally, an American with papers accepting them elsewhere, should be able to get a financial review and clearance of liens and warrants from the IRS and home state in about a month, present acceptance documents, cross the border and surrender their passport there, in another month. Additional travel would be with their new foreign passport.

Reducing the length of the process from 2-3 years to 2-3 months.

The purpose of this would be as a pressure release valve for all the radicals, hotheads, malcontents, Hollywood celebrities and others who hate America and say they want to leave.

Of which there will be an enormous number when President Trump is reelected.

The administration should do everything it can to insure that the door doesn’t hit such people on the way out.
