New Pennsylvania poll: Trump closes gap on all Democratic presidential rivals

A failed impeachment attempt, a stable economy and a fractured field of Democratic candidates appear to have given President Trump a boost in Pennsylvania as the presidential election race heats up. A new Morning Call/Muhlenberg College poll shows Trump doing better against potential Democratic rivals than he did in a similar poll three months earlier, especially in potential matchups with former Vice President Joe Biden and Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren.

Only Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders maintained a slight lead over the president in hypothetical matchups. But even there, Trump gained ground.

Biden and Warren were tied with Trump, while South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg, Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar and former New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg all were slightly behind the president. The gaps in those matchups all were within the poll’s margin of error of 5.5 percentage points.

Keep in mind that nearly every single poll had Hilliary! up by 5-6 points right up to the eve of the election in Pennsylvania.

These results would tend to confirm the Rasmussen 52-47 nationally numbers.

Bernie will shut down fracking. What’s that half a million jobs in PA alone both direct and indirect.

Pa is not in play. Any poll showing Trump losing here is a complete load of bunk.

Just like polling showing Hillary winning here in 16 were bunk.

Anyone buying that the party that is saying end fossils fuels and coal and fracking is going to win PA which is booming thanks to them is lying to you,a complete moron or only talking to people in philly

No chance that the Dems flip any state in the upper Midwest and odds are Trump gets MN this time too

What a BS poll-—showing he would be tied with Warren? Sorry, PA voters would not vote for her or Bloomberg——Philly might go for Bernie though.

I believe the Democrats are going to give up on the presidential race and cheat massively on the congressional races. The Senate races are where the vote stealing operation will be concentrated. It’s all about control of the federal courts for them. If they control the Senate they stymie the president’s ability to nominate federal judges and most importantly it prevents him from putting a conservative on the Supreme Court. In 2024 they have a much better chance of winning the presidency, so they’ll try to keep control of the House and capture the Senate. I think this will be especially true if Bernie is the nominee!

We will be calling into Pennsylvania and sending teams into Pennsylvania from our base in Maryland. I have scheduled volunteer training for March 28 and we are looking for at least 50 people. I have soft commitments for about 25. If you know anyone in central or southern Maryland who might be interested, Freepmail me.

That is not correct. But I don't think any didn't show Clinton ahead.

Trump didn’t close any gap.

He’s extending his lead.

Just take a look at the internals on this poll - 47% Democrat!

There’s no way PA splits 47D/40R/11I. No way in hell. General electorate nationwide is GOP+3 right now according to Gallup.

A strong and lucid candidate Biden could win PA because he could draw working class votes in the state’s population centers, but I’ve never seen any evidence that Biden is or ever was a strong and lucid candidate.

Pennsylvania has a profoundly inept republican party that loves to sit on its hands and let Democrats tell them which races to compete in. There was no candidate in 2016 that they were going to actually work for, but Trump didn’t reply upon the state party leadership to win.

PA was winnable for Hillary in 2016 and she would have won the state against any candidate except for Trump. Biden, even as sad as he is, might have won PA in 2016 if he had run against Trump. He at least would have campaigned in the state like it wasn’t a given.

What’s going to be a priority for PA voters in 2020 that any Democrat is going to seize on? Medicare for all? Climate change? All they have is “orange man bad”.

RE: New Pennsylvania poll: Trump closes gap on all Democratic presidential rivals

I’m not happy with this poll. He should be leading, not trying to close a gap.

Dems in the'burgh and Filthadelphia will be going all out.

Yeah, you are “concerned” as usual. It’s pretty pathetic. If you read beyond the headline you would see he IS leading all but Sanders and even that is dubious when you consider that MCall has a D lean.

Their last poll of PA had your precious Hilliary! up by 6.

How did that work out for you?
