Inside Trump’s frantic attempts to minimize the coronavirus crisis/Barf
Washington Compost ^ | 1/3/20 | Yasmeen Abutaleb, Ashley Parker, Josh Dawsey

Minutes before President Trump was preparing Wednesday to reassure a skittish nation about the coronavirus threat, he received a piece of crucial information: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention had identified in California the first U.S. case of the illness not tied to foreign travel, a sign that the virus’s spread in the United States was likely to explode.

But when Trump took to the lectern for a news conference intended to bring transparency to the spiraling global crisis, he made no explicit mention of the California case and its implications — and falsely suggested the virus might soon be eradicated in the United States. “And again, when you have 15 people — and the 15 within a couple of days is going to be down to close to zero — that’s a pretty good job we’ve done,” he said.

The Trump administration gave briefings on this situation to Congress back in January.

None of the Democrats showed up.

Editorializing in the headline of what’s presented as a straight news story — cheap, shoddy journalism at its worst.

And this is coming from an old-school newspaperman of 25 years experience.

I’m so glad I took early retirement. These people are a disgrace to what should be an honorable profession.

Lord have mercy on their lost souls — because I certainly won’t.

I think there’s a consensus that China’s rulers are geniuses. So there’s this idea that they must know what they’re doing, in doing province-wide lockdowns. I think their abilities are way overrated.

The President should tear a page from the book of FDR and begin his version of the Fireside Chat throughout this Coronavirus thing.

Perhaps every other day for less than 5 minutes just to bring us all up to date with REAL factual info so we don’t have to depend on the hate filled biased media.

The Democrats were busy bashing President Trump for his “inhumane” closing of the border to China flights.

Democrats and their mass media lap dogs are raw slime—and that is on their good days.

There are people who will willfully spread this thing and attempt to use it to damage President Trump.

Look at what they (Democrats) did in Puerto Rico in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria. People died. They didn't care - as long as they could damage Trump!

The wildfires in Australia too - some 200 left wingers have been caught and arrested setting those fires so they could blame Global Warming.

The press barely mentions that... and you can be certain they only caught a percentage of the arsonists.

... and it took THREE poorly educated “journalist” adolescents to write this crap, to only expose themselves as to not having a clue about knowing how “Presidenty leadery stuff” works. Too adult for the kidlets.

The good news is..it will backfire.
Like everything else the leftards have tried.

It’s the norm now. We’re back to party organ “journalism”. The sort of thing that got Hamilton killed in a duel, Lovelace drowned along with his press in a river for daring to speak against slavery, and the North and the South duking it out as members of the press vilified their respective targets of choice. So opinion is fact and fact is opinion, and narrative is the truth, evidence to be provided eventually, or simply made up. Can CW2 be far behind?

President Trump can not get a break.

If he got up there with just few very early facts and state you need to prepare now the markets would crash beyond recovery, and there would be panic buying all at one time like a Scifi movie.

If he states it just a cold, everybody will accuse the government of covering up to save the markets.

The media and Democratic’s will not let any crisis go to waste. They will blame him no matter what he states.

50 years ago the Post had a deserved reputation for reporting the news. That was a long time ago and a lot has changed. Now days it is just a toy of a billionaire with a political agenda.
