I agree with you on your statement that this is not a pandemic or really an epidemic.

However, do you really believe the numbers coming out of China? The number of conflicting reports and videos coming out from people living there would make it seem there might be another side to that story.

So of all closed cases, 6 per cent have died. That might be the more accurate way of looking at what the true death rate of this disease is.

It would then be inaccurate to say that the death rate for all cases is 3.3 per cent of 92000 known cases. The death rate for resolved cases(recovered and dead) is the way to look at it. (which is 6 per cent, over all but it may be higher amongst certain given groups, say an enclosed largely immobile group of aged nursing home patients, or large numbers of Florida elderly snowbirds who flit back and forth between NYC and Florida semiannually.

I think that starts to look like Spanish flu territory.

I’m not going to panic but the number is sobering.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

If a quarantine saves just one child's life, it's worth it.
