It took me so MUCH longer than it would have even 10 years ago to figure out how much a million for 300 million people

I think it was 150 quadrillion

As for these folks, a buck plus change can be mistaken as a million if you round off wrong :)

“Scientific” notation uses exponents - ones, hundreds, thousands, ten thousands, etc. It’s too much work.

“Engineering” notation goes three powers at a time. Ones, thousands, millions, billions. It is much easier to use, and keeps all the “front” numbers between 1 and 999.

A million is two steps. So if you’re starting with 327 million people, you go to billions, then trillions.

327 trillion dollars.
