ROME The number of people in Italy cured of COVID-19 passed the 1,000-mark on Tuesday evening as the country ended its first day of lockdown.
The latest data reported by Italian business newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore show that 8,514 people are currently infected with coronavirus in Italy, while 631 have died from the disease and 1,004 who were infected have since recovered. Some 10,149 are reported to have been infected in the country in all.

Cured or recovered?
But can they catch it again, as we’ve all been informed?
According to NBC News, 81% of the people that catch it don’t even know they have it and require no treatment at all as they are in no danger. But they can pass it on so they are the person your mother warned you about. And I don’t know where that 1% came from.

dont think we know..might be more of had it...viral load lessened so tested negative..then powered up again
or could get two strains
or who knows...
Tom Hanks and his wife have it
You can imagine a 20 year old getting sick...thinking he had the flu..recovering..but shedding it to his Granny and she croaks.
Someone here has a son who has friends that were in Milan who think they had it. Said they have had worse
One of the Flu Bros actually used the entire population of earth as the denominator!
I kid you not!
Thanks. There is no cure today other than to let it run its course and, after it has done that, you are recovered.
Recovered.
Or just covered
Or possibly cremated.
Nothing personal—strictly business. BLAM!
Thank you. Exactly what I was going to post.
Time.
I talked to a Chinese guy going up a ski lift today. His parents are still in China. As with everyone else I have spoken to in China, they say it is going away. But the doom and gloomers will say it is just commie propaganda.
No cure for any virus, right?
The very first comment to the Breitbart article said that the proper word is “recovered” not cured.
“Said they have had worse.”
There are five categories of people that can be concerned about contracting the virus:
The old as their bodies do not have the strength to fight it.
Those with heart disease, obviously.
Those with diabetes as their body does not react well to physical stress.
Those with lung problems like asthma, COPD, or strain from damage from past illness like valley fever, cancer, or tuberculosis.
People with limited immune deficiency, either natural or created.
Most other people will get the flu and will pass through it. Like I previously mentioned, this whole thing is a political sham to make people feel uncomfortable. It’s all psychological and people don’t understand or care.

Both in youngish..both in good shape. ONe displaying symptoms..the one tested positive says he has no symptoms
Being Italian, I have found out that eating those little red peppers or stringing them up around your neck will cure anything. IMO
Yep - while ignoring that this is a mild Flu season, but during it, about 100 Americans die from it, every day of the season...
According to the CDC:
Have a plan for if you get sick:
“Consult with your health care provider for more information about monitoring your health for symptoms suggestive of COVID-19.
Stay in touch with others by phone or email. You may need to ask for help from friends, family, neighbors, community health workers, etc. if you become sick.
Determine who can provide you with care if your caregiver gets sick.”
You’ll notice mention of a doctor’s immediate visit isn’t on the list.
Further:
If you develop emergency warning signs for COVID-19 get medical attention immediately. In adults, emergency warning signs*:
Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
Persistent pain or pressure in the chest
New confusion or inability to arouse
Bluish lips or face”
Each of these is a sign. most likely, of respiratory problems. According to an article in the NY Times:
“The treatment is mainly supportive, making sure the patient is getting enough oxygen, managing his or her fever and using a ventilator to push air into the lungs if necessary, said Dr. Julie Vaishampayan, chairwoman of the public health committee at the Infectious Diseases Society of America.”
Patients with mild cases are told to rest and drink plenty of fluids while the immune system does its job and heals itself, she said. Most people with mild infections recover in about two weeks. More than half of those who have been infected globally have already recovered.
The immune system is a majority of the concern for the virus. Older peoples’ system is not as strong as younger peoples’. And certain illness or medications lessen the effectiveness of the immune system...I take one called dupixent. I am at extreme risk. I stay home.
But as the illness has no current cure, it’s future is based upon treating it like a flu or medical assistance with respiratory. A coronavirus-19 vaccine is still months away and perhaps years if the proper tests are done normally.
After the SARS outbreak in 2003, it took researchers about 20 months to get a vaccine ready for human trials. (The vaccine was never needed, because the disease was eventually contained.) So it never made the market and wasn’t needed. It will be the same with this one as this is no different than any flu season.
But if you are looking for that magic pill, “Dr. Anthony S. Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said a preliminary clinical trial might get off the ground in as little as three months. But researchers would still need to conduct extensive testing to prove a vaccine was safe and effective.”
And that trial will be with a bunch of animals before it can even be tested on humans. If things go as usual, by the time they get the medication fit for humans, it will be under control.
Sorry about the length, but I always try to support my entries with sources. I’m not a doctor but I did study an amount of pre-med in my personal trainer training from Cooper Institute. It has helped me a lot in determining symptoms of physical problems related to immediate distress.
