COLUMBUS, Ohio More than 100,000 people are believed to be infected with the coronavirus, according statements by officials with the Ohio Department of Health during a Thursday afternoon news conference.
That number accounts for around 1% of Ohios population.
"We know now, just the fact of community spread says that at least 1%, at the very least 1% of our population is carrying this virus in Ohio today," said Dr. Amy Acton, Director of ODH. "We have 11.7 million people."
According to the Governor Mike DeWines Office and the ODH, cas
es are expected to double every six days.
"Whenever you know of 2 people that have it due to community spread, then you can assume that 1% of your population has it," said ODH Press Secretary Melanie Amato, citing a 2017 Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report from the CDC.

Assuming a 1% infection rate for the country, 3,340,000 million have (or had) Wuhan-19. With 38 current deaths in the U.S., that puts the mortality rate at around 0.001%.
Months of millions of travelers into our country prior to travel bans coupled with (what we are told is) a much more virulent/easier to catch virus than the flu...and there are only 1,323 with the Wuhan virus vs. 34,000,000 to 49,000,000 who have/had influenza this season?
Admin, please pull as dup.
The Will Flu is an overhyped pussy.
Im also believing this to be the case. I know people whove had flu like symptoms for months. I suspect these people have it. They are sick but are not going to die.
I agree that it a way underreported, but we have tested 8000 people who either are showing symptoms or have close contact with a person who have it. With the number of cases at 1300 we have about a 15% transmission rate. I wonder if thats good or bad
On what facts do they base their prediction??
It started in China a spread from How do you arrive at such a number? there.
100,000? I don’t believe it.
But it would be reassuring if true. Or, at least it will be reassuring in 2 to 3 weeks. It would mean that a vast majority of people who catch it are asymptomatic.
That seems very likely. People with a mild form of the disease would probably not go to doctors, not be tested, and not show up in the statistics. Most people prefer to avoid doctors.
The Coronavirus tests performed on passengers and crew aboard the Grand Princess might be very interesting. They might show that a number of people tested positive without having had significant signs and symptoms.
By using modeling for influenza stats.
If they assume (x) factor more due to Wuhan-19 being more infectious...then the number would be even higher.
It's impossible there are only ~1,350 people infected with Wuhan-19 in our country at this point. The only way that would work out, is if Wuhan-19 was much, much more difficult to catch than influenza.
Do you believe there are only ~1,350 who have/had it?
Well at least they aren’t saying hysterical things.
oh wait
I suppose that's a sufficient reason for losing your life's savings and your livelihood.
The doctor on Brian Kilmeade show on the radio today said people who had the virus and got over it will carry antibodies for months. Good way to test to see patterns and strategies, wouldn’t it be? Such as factors in health routines and diet that are shared by survivors?
One person I heard recently said 50% of known tested victims of the disease had high blood pressure.
A ‘reporter’ sorta let the cat out of the bag when Mz Mayor of DC reported declaring DC in a state of emergency....MD already had done it and VA did it today.
One of the people covering the story then said the ‘good’ thing about this is once a state of emergency is declared they can than get FED MONEY (OUR MONEY) to help ‘fight it’.
So, my cynicism kicks in full bore and figures that for EVERY person that ‘tests positive’ monies will be sent in their direction.
Somewhat like pouring all the money into New Orleans area for levees etc in anticipation of the ‘bigun’ hitting.
When the bigun hit the money apparently (SURPRISE SURPRISE) had been steered in another direction.
You aren’t considered paranoid if someone is REALLY AFTER YOU.
FOLLOW THE MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes.

“...If they assume (x) factor more due to Wuhan-19 being more infectious...”
Is carnivorous more infectious than influenza? I doubt worldwide statistics for influenza would indicate such. But, I really don’t know — am just assuming it is so. When I see wild projections I have a habit of questioning.
Like Eisenhower’s warning of the Military Industrial Complex. We have the Medical Industrial Complex.
