Newsom also asked anyone over 65, as well as people with chronic diseases, to voluntarily isolate themselves in their homes

Well this "senior" has been up since 4:30 and will be heading out to the farm like I have done for the last 44 years. The vegetables won't grow themselves and the millennials just don't want to do it. The governor must be talking to the retired civil servants who are drawing from a fixed pension for life while the rest of us saw our retirement 401ks being cut in half.

My parents are both over 90 and still living at home. In the Seattle area.

They have always had a bit of a “survivalist” streak. Full pantry and bags of rice, beans, etc. They could be comfortable there for a very long time, without ever going into the outside world.

Same here. I’m 66. I’m not the least bit worried about this thing. God will take me home when he’s good and ready. And not a moment before nor after.

A targeted response that makes a lot more sense than mass closures of schools and productive businesses.

Just like the Nazis locked up the Jews in "isolation" camps.

Maybe California, like the Nazis, will provided free showers for the people in isolation.

My 92 year old father has a very important maintenance job at one of the Pebble Beach golf courses. Knowing him, he’ll ignore this.

Meanwhile, tens of thousands of bums will be allowed to gather on the streets and crap on sidewalks.

Should I cancel my 9:30 tee time?

If your dad does not show symptoms and has no preexisting conditions, why should he self quarantine, or be quarantined against his will?

And if you’re over 60 and don’t stay home you’ll get dirty looks from the hipsters and young whippersnappers like Newsom, 53.

Ages 68 and 65 here. These Californians expect little change. Hubby heading to work as usual though there is a chance he will work from home using his newly-issued laptop. We will isolate from our parents and many friends in their 80s and 90s, or who are otherwise vulnerable, none of whom are in nursing homes and keep in touch with their needs. Food wise we could go to ground for months, if need be. No grandkids yet so contact with little ones is minimal.

We have lived through the polio, scarlet fever, measles, and smallpox waves, the nuclear war scare, Y2K bug scare, financial meltdown, H1n1, Ebola, SARS, and 9-11. Hard not to be somewhat sanguine about this one.

Maybe it’s time we started saying “Thank you for your service “ to our farmers

We’re both in our 70s. Like you we have cancelled seeing grandchildren and family, plus most of our other friends. My gripe is that I don’t need to be told to cover mouth when sneezing, or to wash hands and shown how to do it. We are living like socialists if we willingly step in line and have zero free will. I don’t go where crowds go. Can our neighbors come over to play bridge tonight? What’s wrong with me and a buddy playing a round of golf?
We all don’t need to be treated the same. Focus on the Rest Homes, the street people, and the party animals.

Next it’ll be the military at the door to conduct my mandatory testing! Aaach-tung!

I saw some “expert” on ABC this morning talking about how you need to have a changing room in your garage to swap out your clothes and shoes before entering the house.

I suppose she’d recommend fogging your car with bleach solution too....

Even if you live in an assisted living home, you still have rights.

Healthy seniors are telling Newsom, “up yours!” What’s he gonna do - lock them all up in internment camps?

Dear Mr. Nosome, please tell me what hospital I can visit that is not over-whelmed by illegal immigrants with sniffles and colds. I await your totalitarian response.
Signed,
Another Californian that is leaving this once great state. Buy bye. Also, just try to charge me an exit tax....hahahahaha.

Closing schools is an effort to knock this thing down

Nurses and docs in certain areas are beyond the breaking point
Nurses and docs in general are at their breaking point

Don’t be a sick. Think of others. Short term pain for a long term gain
