Nah. I think the election is going to be at the worst possible time for Trump. People wouldn’t want to shake things up during this situation and he’d win if the election were tomorrow, but the main viral “crisis” will be over by November. Unfortunately, the economic impact will still be felt in November, which is not good news for his chances.

When the presidential campaign begins in earnest this coming fall, the Coronavirus "crisis" will be long over with, so Trump will be able to raise it as an example of why the United States needs secure borders and to reduce our dependency on China, especially when it comes to prescription drugs that have been outsourced to China.

Multinational drug companies, many of them headquartered in the United States, began buying ingredients for critical drugs in China after the U.S.-China Fair Trade Agreement passed nearly two decades ago.

Thank you, Bill Clinton.

"Sod off, swampy."

People know Dems represent open borders.

After corona, open borders = unemployment, famine, and death.

No. especially if either chose Hillary as VP. They’d be gone in 6 months, HILLARYSIDE, she’d choose BOTOX as her VP. DISASTER DICTATORSHIP.

The foreign virus can be used as a political kill-shot against globalism. The President needs to reintroduce the themes of the 2016 campaign, update them for current events, and call out the people who have stood in his way every step of the way. Marco Rubio, of all people, was on Fox News talking about the dangers of off-shoring production. He’s a free-trade/open borders/globalist shill if there ever was one. 2016 Trump is more relevant than ever due to this foreign virus.

If Trump continues to lead the way he’s been leading over the last week his approval will be high 50s very quickly. Markets notwithstanding he’s doing a great job. Also, the Bush economy was doing very poorly but the country understood because of the war. This is the same. Also, I am confident the markets will come roaring back before voting starts.

"Would you really want Doddering Joe Biden at the helm during a crisis like this?"

Or some Social Justice Warrior, demanding open borders with China so as not to be racist and that a woman or a transsexual or somebody in some other category command our defense strategy.

I was discussing with my husband last night, and (maybe rose-colored glasses outlook?) thinking that Americans are NOT going to want to change leaders/administrations in the middle of a continuing crisis. Think how long it would take a new POTUS to set up shop and become effective.

Trump is toast. No incumbent can survive the type of economic carnage that is in the process of unfolding...

Do you really believe that people are going to blame President Trump for the stock market crash and the damaged economy caused by the corona virus? People know what caused the economic issues and know that it wasn't President Trump's policies.

If the corona situation is over or at least stabilized by election time, voters are going to be asking who is best able to rebuild the economy taken down by the corona virus: President Trump or Biden? President Trump wins that question in a landslide. Everyone has already seen that he could fix the mess that Obama and Biden left him before the virus derailed things.

I will freely admit that I do not like the President, but I do support his agenda. I voted for Trump and will do so again. Yet conservatives are whistling past the graveyard if they think the economic fallout from the current situation will not damage Trump's reelection chances.

"Trump is toast. No incumbent can survive the type of economic carnage that is in the process of unfolding..."

FDR managed it, because he was perceived, however inaccurately, as "doing something about it", and later as a "wartime president".

Trump will be perceived the same way "if" his policies are even mildly successful at ameliorating the "corona crisis"., or if he is perceived as having done so.

The DNC is right now picking Joe’s running-mate for him. That person may be president for 10 years as I expect that Biden’s future cabinet will — after covering-up Joe’s dementia for 2 years — suddenly pull a 180 and jettison him under the 25th Amendment.

For myself as a voter, I look at several things - all of which all democrat candidates and those presently serving in some form or another are EXTREMELY weak on.

1. Supply chain. Trump began almost immediately bringing manufacturing back to the United States. We cannot be dependent on foreign countries for our medications, food, or manufacturing. It is the only way to boost the economy and keep Americans employed in sustainable jobs.

2. Border Security. Trump fought all opposition to secure our border with Mexico. Even before the Wuhan outbreak, he understood that an open border makes us more susceptible to infiltration by those who intend to do harm.

3. Life. Trump understood that all life matters. Democrats were not only okay with murdering the unborn and those who survive after botched abortions, they see the elderly as a burden on society. “Give granny a pill” was their solution to solving healthcare for the elderly.

4. Liberty. Trump knows that people and businesses are enslaved by over-regulation and taxation. Lightening these burdens extends freedom for all.

5. The Crisis. Democrats are looking for political advantage, any possible way they can get it. Trump actions show that he is putting people over the hype. They hope to use the market to tank Trump’s re-election.

I was not a Trump supporter...he won me over with action, not empty words. DUmocrats words are enough to push me to never consider anything they propose as a solution. Their actions seal the deal.

Life and the means to protect it. All else is irrelevant unless those are secured.

Exactly. Big blessing in disguise. Temporary dislocation in the markets, but long-term gain by moving stuff out of China.

BTW, the flip side is China is gonna collapse like wet origami.
