If coronavirus has spread to this Hasidic Jewish community, it will spread within that community like wildfire as they are in very close proximity to each other and are related to each other in one big extended family...... he’s saying that he thinks 60% of the community is infected, and that’s just a guess, but if he’s a doctor in that area he would have a pretty good idea..... I would assume he’s treated this community in the past during flu epidemics that probably spread very quickly there as well
I believe he has been testing the community at random to determine incidence, but not waiting to test the patients he treats.
As an experiment it stinks, although you might get some retrospective data from antibodies, if his records are reliable and if the patients cooperate.
A foolhardy community, a self-promoting doctor claiming credit for what many have already proposed and using scarce resources preferentially and possibly needlessly for “his people.”
