Skip to comments.Johns Hopkins Study: USA More Prepared for Pandemic Than Any Other Country

Despite claims by the mainstream media and the Democratic Party that the United States was "ill-prepared" to handle the coronavirus pandemic and that actions by Trump administration made us vulnerable, the United States was actually ranked the best-prepared country in the world to handle a pandemic in a study by Nuclear Threat Initiative (NTI) and the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security (JHCHS) published in late 2019.
The United States' Global Health Security Index score was 83.5/100, the highest overall score of 195 countries. The United Kingdom came in second with a score of 77.9. Italy, which has experienced significant difficulties in handling the outbreak in their country, scored 56.2. Iran, which is also struggling to handle the pandemic, scored 37.7.
The Trump administration has been the target of a significant amount of misinformation being disseminated by the Democrats and the mainstream media designed to undermine confidence in the administration's handling of the pandemic, including false reports that Trump "dissolved" the White House pandemic response office and that Trump cut funding to the CDC and NIH.
Despite these false reports, Trump's approval ratings have improved in the past few weeks, and his response to the pandemic has the approval of 60 percent of Americans, according to the latest Gallup poll.
The Global Health Security index "was developed with guidance from an international panel of experts from 13 countries, with research by the Economist Intelligence Unit. More than 100 researchers spent a year collecting and validating publicly available data," the Washington Post reported last year.

The average overall GHS Index score is 40.2 out of a possible 100. While high-income countries report an average score of 51.9, the Index shows that collectively, international preparedness for epidemics and pandemics remains very weak.
translation: Johns Hopkins gets huge gobs of grant money from the CDC. They will always have their back.
Except that one country.
Something an old friend used to say at work :)
We’d get an email saying our company beat out all others in revenues an he’d say “except that one company”.
Or “this band was the greatest ever”..”except that one band”..
IT SEEMED FUNNY AT THE TIME!
Anyway he died of colon cancer at 40...Nothing funny about that.

Centralized, bureacratic, top-down systems are paralyzed and destroyed by unexpected events. Diverse, dispersed, independent actors survive, can respond, and thrive with unexpected events.
American socialists have for years been trying to create such top-down, centrally-controlled and planned health and other systems in the USA. Thank God they havent fully succeeded.
Thats why the messed up response by CDC and FDA is so inexplicable and troubling. This should never have happened
The CDC doesn’t hand out money. It receives money.
I preface this comment by saying that we are following all the protocols etc. The scare tactics being pushed by some remind me of taking Driver’s Ed 55 years ago. During the in class part of the course, we were shown a horrific movie of the aftermath of bad auto accidents, including plenty of footage of dead/dismembered/crushed people being removed from cars and/or under cars etc.
Didn’t change our much too fast and risky driving one bit, but can you imagine that being shown to today’s teens? Oh, the trauma.
Old article already posted.
Same question as last time it was posted: Why then are we apparently, per the curve and deaths, doing so poorly.
This article is self-serving to CDC and fawning by their ward Johns Hopkins.
I’m not surprised but the next tier has a surprise to me. Not the western European countries nor South Korea but Thailand.
Once they find out it is being touted by Trump for his campaign, they will revise the study to say the US was the worst prepared nation.
RE: Old article already posted.
A March 25,2020 article is old on March 26?
We’ve had a global fire drill, the world should be better prepared and we can see problem areas.
