I could not agree with you more! It is saddening to see our country brought to its knees by hype and hysteria. I do not deny that there is an epidemic, yet no one who is honest expects this to be of an order of magnitude which requires turning Americans into serfs and slaves. That is what is being done to us and I am disappointed to see so few of us who are willing to scream “bloody murder” at the confiscation of the few liberties we have left. Will we need to revise the National Anthem by deleting “in the land of the free and the home of the brave” and replace it with “in the land of ignorant and cowardly slaves”?
It's a completely different mindset. Democrats depend on government. Republicans depend on God, prayer, self-reliance and personal responsibility. The author has identified the essential difference between leftists and conservatives. Put another way, conservatives fear God and leftists would be God.
The ineffable reality of faith is that it performs contrary to leftist expectations about believers, it does not put them in chains, it liberates them. The other side of the coin, hubris, the drive to play God enervates the individual, sucks him into the collective, and ultimately destroys him. Finally, it enslaves all those about him whom it does not destroy.
