Americans shouldn’t assume hydroxychloroquine is a “knockout drug” in preventing or treating COVID-19, White House health advisor Dr. Anthony Fauci warned Friday.
“We still need to do the definitive studies to determine whether any intervention, not just this one, is truly safe and effective,” Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said on Fox News. “But when you don’t have that information, it’s understandable why people might want to take something anyway even with the slightest hint of being effective.”

There is not a single chemo treatment that is successful in curing cancer. Yet when my wife was prescribed Yervoy for melanoma we didnt care it had a 25% success rate or that there might be difficult side effects. It was a chance. We didnt hesitate to take it. It didn’t succeed but I do not blame the oncologist. Instead he gave us a chance. That is exactly how HCQ should be treated. It is a chance.
Some people are acting as though the death toll is going up astonishingly exponentially.

I really wish President Trump would have someone talk to Dr. Fauci. He has provided several apparently conflicting pieces of information according to his interviews / statements. He is very much muddling what should be a message of concise, coherent US policy re: COVID-19.
Does a President have the authority to make medical recommendations without the approval of medical experts? I don’t know how this would be effective if he is undermined by his own medical experts. The doctors in the hospitals across the nation are not going to obey the words of political entities in the White House in matters of medical interventions.
Fauci is a researcher he is not a doctor even though he carried MD.

Dr Fauci’s true patient is the “system” of scientific methodology. He is unable to separate the real world and an 80-90% solution now based on evidence in the real world from his lifelong dedication to the double blind empirical methodology of the peer reviewed world in which he lives.
