The White House said on Friday that anyone who will be near President Donald Trump or Vice President Mike Pence will be given a rapid test to see if they have COVID-19, the new disease caused by the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus, commonly known as the novel coronavirus.
“As the physician to the president and White House Operations continue to protect the health and safety of the president and vice president, starting today anyone who is expected to be in close proximity to either of them will be administered a COVID-19 test,” White House spokesman Judd Deere said in a statement emailed to The Epoch Times.
The test will “evaluate for pre-symptomatic or asymptomatic carriers status to limit inadvertent transmission,” he added.
The move is being done out of an abundance of caution, a White House official said.
Up to one in four people infected with the new virus will never show symptoms and patients not showing symptoms can transmit the virus, the head of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said this week.
Researchers from the agency said in a report published this week that they found seven clusters of cases from Singapore where the “most likely explanation” for the secondary cases becoming infected was “presymptomatic transmission.”

Intersting...I wrote suggesting this on a post yesterday and wrote to the CDC with the same suggestion last night. I urged them to set up an Evaluation Tent outside the WH, make everybody entering the WH do the 15 minute test, and have teams there to disinfect everything a person is carrying into the WH.
My suggested protocol is more stringent than what is described here. I’m surprised they are not adopting much more stringent efforts directed at EVERYBODY entering the WH rather than just those who will be close to Trump and Pence.
Good, but I really wish POTUS and Pence were never in the same building together. We are in dangerous times ... and not just from this virus.
On a daily basis, I hope. Just because you tested negative yesterday doesn’t mean you will test negative today.
Some idiot reporter at today’s briefing accusingly asked why everyone meeting with POTUS had to be tested. There are just no words for their stupidity and mendacity. Just as rational to ask “why do you have Secret Service protection?”
No they think Trump should just be wearing a mask instead!!

Yep, that is the reality of it.
Your other point was sort of answered in today's briefing. Again a reporter tried to make a big thing about Trump, Pence and the rest being so close together on the podium. Trump didn't give much of an answer (he obviously thought it was stupid) but Fauci came up a little while later, clearly irritated with the question, and said, to paraphrase, "the reason I'm not worried about it is I was tested yesterday and it came back negative. VP Pence was tested yesterday."
Of course any idiot would realize that the WH is a carefully controlled environment even in normal times. Maybe not for contagious diseases at all times but that's just part of the current threat assessment.
But that isn't why the propagandist asked it is it?
Makes no difference to me! If a President and his Vice President do not fly on the same plane...their health/lives are the most important in the country regarding the smooth transition of power in a crisis.
