It looks like he was actually living in the home with them all until the parents decided to pay for their very own little love-nest as one of them was health-compromised and they did this for safety during the Chinese Corona virus pandemic.
Little did they know, the freeloader they were supporting wasn't happy with his level of support and wanted it all.

The now dead couple had their adopted 18 year old daughter shacked up in their home with the 18 y.o. boyfriend, as I’m sure you do. For safety sake during quarantine, they moved 18 year old daughter and 18 y.o. boyfriend to shack up in a B&B, as you do. No doubt the good judgment of this liberal couple cost them their lives.
ABC. ALWAYS be carrying, and yes, even at home. Things happen just often enough inside your house that there’s no reason not to.
