9 US States Plan Reopening of Economies After Corona Virus Shutdown
Epoch Times ^ | 04/14/2020

NEW YORK—A total of nine states on the U.S. East and West coasts said on April 13 they had begun planning for the slow reopening of their economies and lifting of strict stay-at-home orders amid signs the worst had passed in the CCP virus pandemic.

The Northeast states of New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut will work with Delaware, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island in coordinating to gradually reopen their economies together, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said.

“Nobody has been here before, nobody has all the answers,” Cuomo said during an open conference call with his five counterparts. “Addressing public health and the economy: Which one is first? They’re both first.”

The governors of California, Oregon, and Washington said they also had reached an agreement on a shared approach to restarting businesses, although they gave no firm timeline and said they would be guided by the health of residents first.

President Donald Trump said earlier on April 13 that any decision to restart the economy was his to make.

State governors and Trump have debated about when and how to restart economic activity.

Legal experts say a U.S. president has limited power under the U.S. Constitution to order citizens back to their places of employment, or cities to reopen government buildings, transportation, or local businesses to reopen.

“It is the decision of the president, and for many good reasons,” Trump wrote on Twitter on April 13. He went on to write that his administration was working closely with the governors.

“A decision by me, in conjunction with the governors and input from others, will be made shortly!” Trump’s tweet stated.

Political leaders said a reopening of the economy may hinge on more widespread testing and cautioned that lifting of stay-at-home restrictions too early could reignite the outbreak.

Will these plans be like their Pandemic response plans?

You can be sure Ohio will be very late to reopen.

DeSwine is loving his turn at being a dictator. He’s an old bast*rd, so he likely won’t run again, but I can guarantee I would never vote for him, ever.

Federalize the National Guard in those states and arrest the Governors.

Interesting that South Dakota and Wyoming, the first two to announce reopening, aren’t even listed here. We wouldn’t want some unapproved flyover governor getting credit for stating the obvious now, would we?

if you don’t live here why don’t you mind your own business? All New York state did was closed down earlier than the southern and a Midwestern states realized they had to.

and I do not think Cuomo has done a bad job on this even though I hate him. I believe de Blasio has done a horrific job.

I am very satisfied with how it has been handled And Cuomo’s plans going forward.

That being said, he is prob abortion and anti-second amendment and a million other things that could make me never ever vote for him. But That’s not the question right now

when the situation is good enough to open a state economy, flow of federal funds needs to proportionately decrease.

are all these states rat governors?....to me its like one state doesn't want to loose out on the consumer spending so they want to all do it at the same time....

but luckily I have Idaho next door....I think they'll open quicker then Wash or Oregon...

can anyone imagine the absolute outcry if Trump had said this. Freakin hypocrites. “Trump wants grandmothers to die and also kill the economy”

DeSwine is loving his turn at being a dictator.

DeWine deferred his dictatorship to Dr. Amy Acton. SHE is running the state.

Legal experts say a U.S. president has limited power under the U.S. Constitution to order citizens back to their places of employment, or cities to reopen government buildings, transportation, or local businesses to reopen.

Mainly because of the Incompetence of the person Asking the question.

Ask your "Legal Experts" this question:

Can the Federal Government Criminally Prosecute Elected State Officials for Deprivinig the Citizens of their God Given Rights, enumerated in, secured by, and Protected by the US Constitution.

18 U.S. Code § 242. Deprivation of rights under color of law U.S. Code Notes prev | next Whoever, under color of any law, statute, ordinance, regulation, or custom, willfully subjects any person in any State, Territory, Commonwealth, Possession, or District to the deprivation of any rights, privileges, or immunities secured or protected by the Constitution or laws of the United States, or to different punishments, pains, or penalties, on account of such person being an alien, or by reason of his color, or race, than are prescribed for the punishment of citizens, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year, or both; and if bodily injury results from the acts committed in violation of this section or if such acts include the use, attempted use, or threatened use of a dangerous weapon, explosives, or fire, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both; and if death results from the acts committed in violation of this section or if such acts include kidnapping or an attempt to kidnap, aggravated sexual abuse, or an attempt to commit aggravated sexual abuse, or an attempt to kill, shall be fined under this title, or imprisoned for any term of years or for life, or both, or may be sentenced to death.

I don’t think Wyoming ever put any stay-at-home orders in place, even at the local level.

All the states should be planning reopening of economies at this time, such plans certainly including respecting expert medical advice, not “Orange Man Bad” politics.

Bingo. Democrap governors are drawn to REVENUE more strongly than Borat was drawn to Pamela Lee Anderson.

Sounds like Cuomo is preparing to get ahead of Trump’s plan and claim it as his own...kinda like he’s done since the TF was formed.

Imagine Cuomo having to be led through this by a Biden WH. They’d be real busy building him 40,000 ventilators from govt appropriated businesses... and without advocating for hydroxy...

he might need a lot of them

Texas is not listed either.

Abbott extended the quarantine but at the same time began a rolling reopening of business. I noticed yesterday that there was actual traffic delaying my progress as I drove around.

It goes deeper than being drawn to revenue I think.

For some, especially Illinois, there might be a real problem just meeting the payroll.

There are no federal cash grants or loans for the states
