I have fears that Trump is not really conservative enough, but is a pragmatist who will make deals with anyone willing to deal with him. So far he is doing well, especially with judges - but part of that is because the Demoncrats hate him so much, they won't work with him on most things. If Nancy and Chuck switched and made nice with DJT, we might get decidedly non-conservative changes to immigration laws or a huge public works spending bill. I don't know, maybe not, but Trump wants to make deals.

We fought this battle in 2016. There were some Freepers claiming President Trump was not a conservative (he is not) and if you were conservative you should not vote for him.
My answer, I resigned (figuratively) from the CONSERVATIVE organization. Burned my membership card and secret code books.
I agree, President Trump is not a pure conservative by anyone’s definition. He is more pragmatic. He wants control of our borders, he wants to reduce our dependence on China, he wants fair trade deals and he wants to bring manufacture ring back to the US.
I say he is pragmatic in that he is willing to work with others and compromise on somethings.
A pure conservative (or a pure progressive) is unable to compromise, it is all or nothing with them.
I admire Joe. I have to admit it. To wake up everyday and say something stupider than the day before is a burden. How does this man sleep at night knowing that the day before he said something that was stupider than ever and that he now has to top it?
Sooner or later the lack of sleep and anxiety will kill poor Joe. But he can go to his grave knowing that he gave that last full measure of devotion to the cause of stupid.
