Sadly, we will never be able to punish China sufficiently for what they have unleashed on this planet and the US. Trump was punishing them hard via trade when COVID-19 magically reared its ugly head. China brought the US and much of the planet on their knees. They could invade Taiwan tomorrow, and not a damn thing will be done about it. Certainly nothing that would reverse such action.
God can reboot the planet at any time, as far as I am concerned.

Invading Taiwan or any other place right now would be a miscalculation of the highest order for China. The entire planet would like nothing less than to see China blown to smithereens.
