This is one of those days where I have to check to see what forum I’m in.

That's not my wish at all. I want us to reopen as soon as we can do so reasonably safely.
I don't want to see us open without consideration for safety, and see case rates and fatality rates spike up.
I don't want to see us reopen in such a way that the public doesn't have confidence or quickly loses confidence. That's not going to help livelihoods.
This economy was shutting down on it's own, with or without a coordinated government shut down. Markets were falling, flights were being cancelled for lack of passengers, restaurant traffic was falling.
Blame government if that makes you feel better.
Accuse me of wanting economic disaster, if that helps.
But what I want is fewer people getting this illness, control over the virus and the minimal economic damage that reasonably supports those goals. Because I just don't see any scenario where there wasn't going to be economic damage.
The other day I was trying to remember, of any nation in history, that has so royally screwed the pooch, as we have with this. I honestly cannot think of one. Especially if you factor in the speed at which we destroyed everything. Unreal......
Jim, I gotta disagree with you on this. I think the government has proven conclusively that it is not.
My tagline has been running for a while now.
This period in history proves the United States is definitely not a free country.

I am forty or so days from my 76th, the expression,”It’s a free country”, was very common in my youth but I NEVER hear it now. Is it just that it faded away like many other sayings or have people realized finally that this is NOT a free country?
