Judge Benitez was born in Havana in 1950. His family lost everything when Castro came to power, and his parents sent him to Miami to live with relatives when he was ten. Later his mother was able to come to America. He received his college and legal education in southern California.

He understands America and the freedoms we cherish here, as well as the dangers of Communism and the other totalitarian “isms”.

Thanks for responding to my post. Having gone to high school and college in Miami, I knew a lot of good Cuban-American folks who, as you state, “lost everything when Castro came to power.”
