The nail salon Beaumont Mayor Becky Ames visited this week in spite of a standing shutdown order due to the coronavirus outbreak is now under state investigation.
The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation said the agency has received at least three formal complaints against The Nail Bar and many, many, many more complaints on its Facebook page, spokeswoman Tela Mange said in confirming the investigation to The Enterprise.
The department issues permits required for nail salons and other service businesses.
The Texas Attorney Generals Office later Thursday declined to confirm or deny whether it is pursuing an investigation into the mayor or The Nail Bar.

From the article....
...Six weeks ago or more, I went to get a manicure and ended up getting the powder nails for the first time. I loved it and it looked great, but as they grew out I started looking like a witch, she said. I tried to take them off and texted the lady that did them, who is the owner of the salon, to ask what to do.
Ames said the salon owner told her the shop wasnt open, but that she would mix up some solution for pickup. The photograph was taken, she said, while Ames was soaking her nails to learn how to take them off.
The photo shows Ames, wearing a face mask, with her fingertips in a bowl.
The mayor said she stopped by the salon Tuesday, not Monday, and was there for about 10 minutes before going straight to the Beaumont City Council meeting. She said she was able to remove half of the dip nails during that time.
She provided contact information for the salon owner, who backed up the mayors story.
The council meeting took place over Zoom, and the recording shows Ames wearing the same outfit as in the photo taken at the salon.
Ames said she didnt know who took the photo or realize that a third person was there. The salon owner said it was an employee who had stopped by to pick up nail polish to use at home. She said the worker has been informed she cannot return to the shop....

Yeah, sure.
NOT!
You don’t stop by to be shown how to soak off your artificial nails.....by being caught LITERALLY with her fingers in the soaking bowl!
I hope both she and the nail salon are fined....for doing something that the rest of the state and country, have not been allowed to do.
Oh, and her highlights look pretty freshly done, too.
Let me guess....she stopped by her hair salon and got a quick lesson on how to highlight and trim her own hair.
Geez.
Here is the non-emergency email you can report people violating the may-whore’s closure orders:
What party? (Need I ask?)
They never say. So must be ‘rat.
That’s why God created GLOVES.
Had a physician tell me many, many years ago that those gel nails (or glue-on temp nails, for that matter) are nothing put petri dishes for nail fungi/infections. He said that the nail is actually a skin appendage and is meant to get oxygen for health and to be washed when we wash our hands. I don’t find them attractive in the least (look ghetto). Am always ticked off when cashiers or food handlers have these talons on and are handling items I have to use or eat.
Hey! What makes her so special?.......waste of words there......heck, I have tips put on and they got so long I looked like Dragon Lady and I couldn’t type......I chewed mine off....she can too.....hypocrite!!
Ever got one in a salad? We did. Yuk.
