Some of the big ones announced that they were waiving deductibles and copays for COVID-19 patients. They also said they weren’t going to ask the government for a bailout to cover these enormous expenses.
So how are they going to recover this money they’re shelling out? It’s easy ... they’ll just pressure their affiliated hospitals to delay or even cancel a whole bunch of other medical procedures that would cost them a lot of money in claims.
Aren’t the insurance outfits cleaning up on this ?
Premiums are paid and services ARE NOT being rendered so in turn insurance IS NOT paying out.
Pure profit isn’t it ?
They only have our best interests at heart, because after all, they are the insurance companies. I'm sure they'll gladly forgo their profits so that we stay physically and financially healthy.
It seemed to be the smart thing to do, early in the pandemic. If infected people didn’t seek treatment, because of the costs, it’s likely there would be more cases. The insurance companies had to decide whether to pay a lot for a few, or pay a bit less for a lot more.
