CHICO, Calif. (KRCR) — Jerry Bransford's barbershop on East Avenue is a one-man operation.
He not only owns Fairview Barber Shop but is its only hairstylist.
Until a week ago, he adhered to the government's edict that kept his business closed because of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
But Bransford could no longer afford to keep his doors closed, so he recharged his razor and returned to cutting hair.
"It digs into your savings," said Bransford, who said his shop is busy around the clock with scraggly-haired clients.
His shop has been visited by code enforcement which told him he's not supposed to be open but was not cited.
However, code enforcement gave him a safety protocol to keep him and his customers safe from COVID-19, which includes his wearing a face mask and gloves and keeping his customers a good distance separated.
Gearhead on Sacramento Avenue opened 10 days ago and has had a long waiting list of clients waiting for haircuts, as its owner too is adhering to code enforcement safety protocol. (UPDATE: On Friday, April 30, the owner of Gearhead Barbershop was arrested following an investigation into an alleged sexual assault.)
I’m tempted to drive out there and get a haircut. I won’t be able to stop for gas in Gallup though...
Saw a guy on Tucker Carlson last night who basically dared the governess of Maine to stop him from opening his restaurant. He encouraged all restaurants to give her the finger and open. He was a pretty big guy, pretty sure they don’t want to mess with him.
Mine opened on the 27th. Need to get in.
You COULD buy an extra gallon or so in a big ole gas can and continue your trip! Might be worth it!

It’s tough to hire a contractor for much of anything in the home biz. They won’t show up most of the time.
If they do for an initial look and figure a quote. Rarely do they say anything again.

He’s got a self proprietorship which means that as a small business owner with zero employees, you get nothing to help you out. As a self employed person, you’re rejected for most if not all (depending on your state) unemployment benefits on the other end.
