That was one of the more extraordinary interviews we have done here at UnHerd.

Professor Johan Giesecke, one of the world’s most senior epidemiologists, advisor to the Swedish Government (he hired Anders Tegnell who is currently directing Swedish strategy), the first Chief Scientist of the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, and an advisor to the director general of the WHO, lays out with typically Swedish bluntness why he thinks:

- UK policy on lockdown and other European countries are not evidence-based

- The correct policy is to protect the old and the frail only

- This will eventually lead to herd immunity as a “by-product”

- The initial UK response, before the “180 degree U-turn”, was better

- The Imperial College paper was “not very good” and he has never seen an unpublished paper have so much policy impact

- The paper was very much too pessimistic

- Any such models are a dubious basis for public policy anyway

- The flattening of the curve is due to the most vulnerable dying first as much as the lockdown

- The results will eventually be similar for all countries

- Covid-19 is a “mild disease” and similar to the flu, and it was the novelty of the disease that scared people.

- The actual fatality rate of Covid-19 is the region of 0.1%

- At least 50% of the population of both the UK and Sweden will be shown to have already had the disease when mass antibody testing becomes available

Time to blow the smoke away with this crisis.

Johan is a knowledgeable authority on virus's. He is thoughtful and cautious about misrepresenting reality. He understands the threat to freedom from the way this has been handled.

Can you imagine this guy walking into a Trump COVID briefing with these ideas? He would be disappeared in the blink of an eye. This could be funny if what he says were not so true.

This hoax has cost us trillions of dollars and ruined the lives of millions. What a travesty! For what, exactly?

This is who this guy is:

Yet, now, in spite of his pedigree, he will not be listened to because he is not on the Bill Gates/Fauci agenda.

True that! 79% of the Covid deaths in my county are nursing home related as reported in NJ.gov Covid-19 LTC dashboard. the lockdown did not protect them.

Eventually herd immunity will develop. unless a safe and effective vaccine is developed, the numbers culled from the herd will ultimately be the same regardless of protective measures and policies. “Social distancing and quarantine the healthy are not foolproof and eventually and inevitably almost everyone will be exposed to this virus. The vulnerable will sicken and some will die. Yet it is apparent the decline in productive economic activity creates more suffering and increases the final score death numbers. There are very good arguments to allow people under fifty to go forth and resume productive lives.

Yeah, let’s be just like Sweden!

Mandatory Euthanasia for Elderly Coronavirus Victims in Sweden

Video interview with a Swedish doctor named Jon Tallinger, who drew a lot of attention in Sweden when he blew the whistle on the health service’s policies towards elderly coronavirus victims. Instead of giving them oxygen treatment — which might actually enable them to survive the infection — nursing homes are required to administer morphine, which inhibits their breathing even further, and are forbidden to send coronavirus patients to the hospital.

This is, for all practical purposes, a program of deliberate euthanasia.

As a follow-up, in the video below Dr. Tallinger interviews a nursing-home nurse named Latifa Löfvenberg, who has personally witnessed the treatment of elderly coronavirus patients. Ms. Löfvenberg has courageously agreed to speak publicly about what she has seen, and is willing to testify in a court of law if necessary.

Yes, with an obligation to protect the old, in-firmed and those with weakened immune systems.

Is Sweden’s COVID-19 Handling A Failure Or A Success?

Sweden did not have a hard lockdown like its neighbors although people were advised to work from home when possible. It also banned nursing home visits on April 7.

On a per capita basis, Sweden’s Covid-19 deaths are 3 to 5.5 times the other Nordic countries.

Sweden has just over 3 times the death rate of Denmark. But note Denmark’s population density disadvantage of 138:25.

Success or Failure?
Success is in the eyes of the beholder.

A death rate 5.5x is acceptable to some but not others.

But Sweden has a ton of pressure to under-report Covid deaths. I would be shocked if they didn’t.

Regardless, one can easily look at this data, ignore the undercounts (perhaps even factor some in), and conclude Sweden did the right thing.

But how does that translate to the US?

I don’t blame President Trump. This is an election year, he tried to listen to the “experts”. The Experts and the Deep State Plotters have a hand in this.

It will make you very angry with the evil in NYC. Such treatment of the infected is unforgivable.

I think the MSM will embrace the Swedish model once they figure out a way to use it to justify more socialism.

This graphic collection of data is from the above article.

For the record, I have never supported an economic lockdown, but facts are facts, and you should not only cherry pick from Swedish "herd immunity fast" cheerleaders.

Does the author of your laudatory piece also support the forced euthanasia of old Swedes with Coronavirus, who get morphine instead of oxygen, and are not sent to hospitals at all? (See my link above.)

I never thought I'd see the day when freepers supported forced euthanasia for the elderly who get sick.

Because that is exactly what your much-applauded Swedish model does.

I'm glad you are providing a carve-out for elderly Americans who get sick. Your Swedish heroes do not.

No where in the interview is anything said about Euthanasia.

Nor is it stated in such a way to show no compassion.

I don't think many of us believe that a hard lock-down a la Wuhan or Whitmer is necessary, but certainly strong mitigation, masks and social distancing were important to get Rt from a level where cases were increasing 10-fold per week to Rt < 1.0 so that we see a declining number of daily new infections, which is where we now are.

The problem with holding Sweden up as an example is that Scandanavians are already rather solipsistic anyway, and so what we regard as extreme social distancing they regard as just normal social intercourse.

Figures don’t lie, But Liars Figure.

Take an honest examination of our death statistics and it becomes apparent that the data we are given is total lies.

Follow the money in NYC and it will lead you to who is responsible for the deaths.

What does this have to do with the advice he gave? Do you have ANY proof he contributed to that policy? And was this for those who were going to die in a few days ANYHOW?

Hell, if I’m slipping into Dementia I’d be more than happy to end my life after watching what both my parents went through.

As of May 1st, less than 3.000 TOTAL DEATHS in Sweden.
