According to inside information, a group of Franklin County officials, responding to an outcry of dissatisfaction from local citizens and some negative press, is preparing to join other South Central PA counties in the growing rebellion against Governor Wolfs tyrannical COVID19 lockdown.

You had me thinking of the Whisky rebellion at first, but that happened during Washington’s Presidency, and wouldn’t be 255 years old.

GO Franklin County! When will York County “leaders” get some backbone? But Exalted Ruler Tom Wolf is a York Countian, and probably has them buffaloed. Long time ago, used to hunt whitetails in Franklin County, in the Tuskarorah State Forest out beyond McConnelsburg. Big fat deer, fed off the area farms.

York County District Attorney Dave Sunday released a letter on Friday stating that his office "will not prosecute any criminal citations for alleged violation of the [Governor and Secretarys] orders and regulations...concerning the operation of non-life sustaining business.
He has further directed law enforcement not to issue any citiation.
Franklin County is on the Maryland border--the farthest west of all the counties in the big red zone.
With the addition of Franklin the rebel alliance will be eight strong: Adams, Beaver, Cumberland, Dauphin, Lebanon, Perry, and York are the others.
I consider myself fairly well read in local history but don't remember this.

The article explains it. During the period of 1765-1769, Franklin County settlers took part in the first armed resistance to British rule, known as the “Black Boys Rebellion”. It was the topic of a 1939 movie called “Allegheny Uprising” starring John Wayne and Claire Trevor.
