I tend to think you are right. However, I don’t think the Obama administration followed the rules when it came to the surveillance state and I also think they were requesting the UK and our 5-eyes intel partners to do the spying for them.
We will see, but in fairness to Dan he did say it was speculation.
I think we had a surveillance state gone made in the last administration - journalist, opposition politicians, and others were likely spied on in an unprecedented fashion. All of this would be in violation of the law and constitution.
A real possibility, especially since Flynn was outside the US when he and Kislyak talked.
