Michigan AG tells Trump to wear mask while visiting Ford plant: It's 'the law'

Michigan's attorney general urged President Trump to wear a face mask when he visits the state Thursday to tour a Ford Motor Co. plant and to adhere to Gov. Gretchen Whitmer's coronavirus executive order, telling the commander in chief that he has a "legal responsibility" to follow the law.

Dana Nessel, a Democrat, penned an open letter to Trump Wednesday asking him to follow the face-covering policy of Ford Motor Co. and of the state of Michigan. Trump has not been pictured wearing a face mask in public and said he's taking hydroxychloroquine, an unproven COVID-19 drug, as a preventative measure to ward off the contagious virus.

“While my Department will not act to prevent you from touring Ford’s plant, I ask that while you are on tour you respect the great efforts of the men and women at Ford – and across this state – by wearing a facial covering," Nessel wrote. "It is not just the policy of Ford, by virtue of the Governor’s Executive Orders. It is currently the law of this State."

I hope the President has a bright red mask with white MAGA lettering on it, if he has to wear a mask.

Good grief!

I’ve got the top three co-morbidities, and a stent inside of a stent in my right coronary artery, meaning a blood clot could easily kill me, and I cannot wear a mask for any period of time.

But, at the same time, I am not going to fault anyone for wearing anything that they think makes them safer. I might chuckle to myself quietly, but I am not into control or shaming people.

Throughout all of this, I have only seen the utmost in courteous people here in NW Florida, and that makes me very happy. I love Florida.

Ha ha.

I’d be tarred and feathered if I did that where I live.

Here's a mask I might not mind sporting, but I know I wouldn't be able to breathe in it for very long.

All of my trips to the grocery over the past three months have been mask free except for one. I have never noticed anyone wearing a mask giving me the stink eye for not wearing a mask. Maybe they did, but I didn't see it. I also haven't seen anyone not wearing a mask giving a mask wearer any troubles. The behavior of all people here has been about as kind and courteous as one could hope for, I am very pleased to say.

You’re the very first person to post that, at least as far as I know, and you are dead on right.

There is no such word as “preventative.” The word is “preventive.”

Just got back from a run to Walmart in the northern AZ area. Hardly anyone was wearing a mask. Traffic was back to pre-covid days and no one was acting all weird by being a little close to someone. People were talking and friendly. The employees were wearing masks; more or less. Only because they had to. On the other hand the bad drivers were out again driving like idiots on Thorazine.

In blue states the Gestapo rules the land with an iron fist and EO’s they have the gall to call “laws” and “orders” like we are serfs or something. Sorry Charlie, you public servants work for us, not the other way around.

Sometimes I think they just need a good swatting on the butt or face to let them know who is really in charge. We allow them their authority but only as long as they don’t abuse the privilege and it is a privilege.

And, states cannot supercede the freedoms outlined in the US Constitution. They all agreed to that when they joined the union.
