WASHINGTON (AP) — A divided Supreme Court on Friday rejected an emergency appeal by a California church that challenged state limits on attendance at worship services that have been imposed to contain the spread of the coronavirus.

Over the dissent of the four more conservative justices, Chief Justice John Roberts joined the court's four liberals in turning away a request from the South Bay United Pentecostal Church in Chula Vista, California, in the San Diego area.

Darth Vader Roberts strikes again.

Darth Vader Roberts mission is NOT to the Constitution, it is to “keeping the court noncontroversial” whenever he possibly can. Of course HIS thinking of what is or isn’t noncontroversial tilts to the Left (if the Left is going to make it controversial to them, then its controversial to Roberts).

Just don't call it a worship service; call it a "protest." As we're seeing tonight, they can't disperse you then.

It’s getting to the point where we’re going to have to either go underground or openly disobey an obvious breach of First Amendment rights.

And the consequences of Bush’s administration continue to echo on in our country.

He helped wreck our economy to help people buy homes who could not afford them, then sacked us with the bill. He was a neocon who wanted the Republican party to be the Party of War. He was a warmonger who launched 2 wars, 1 of which was totally unjust, and kept us there, spending us into oblivion as 2 more administrations failed to get us out. He failed to defend marriage or the Constitution.

He almost single handedly poisoned the Republican party for a generation and his regime helped make Obama a given.

I am counting on both. Trump’s re-election is a lock. Holding the Senate should go with Trump’s coat tails. Not guaranteed, but I expect it. Of course, if we lose either than we won’t have another SCOTUS nominee. A Rat Senate would shoot down all of Trump’s nominees for 4 years. We HAVE TO hold the Senate. We have to. I don’t care how many RINOs it takes. We need the Senate.

I believe since it’s an emergency appeal they just turned down the ability to speed up the case, maybe Roberts just wants to hear it out. Not that that makes the decision any better.

The idea that conservatives STILL think that there are political solutions is mind boggling.

JC, look at where we are--Andy Ngo says it better than I ever could.

The US is getting a small preview of the anarchy antifa militants have been agitating, training & preparing for. Those who are harmed first are the weak & vulnerable, the people who cannot protect themselves. Abolishing law enforcement is a condition for their success.

The destruction of businesses we're witnessing across the US is not mere opportunism. It plays a critical role in antifa & BLM ideology. The goal is to abolish capitalism & have regime change. To do that, they have to make economic recovery impossible.

Media, politicians, public—all of us—have underestimated the training, purpose & capability of left-wing extremists. Every part of the rioting has a purpose. Fires destroy economy. Riots can overwhelm police & even military. All of it leads to a destabilized state if maintained.

They are going for it.

So if we removed Roberts, who would be the next one to turn?

Well, he did give us Alito. (After he was told that his friend Harriet Miers was not going through.)

Then Souter is looking down from his upstairs office. Retired justices get one.

You may recall that some of us opposed Roberts (notably Ann Coulter), and we were attacked for it.

He should hve been defeated. Scalia should have been made Chief Justice and a new Associate Justice (along the lines of Sam Alito) nominated.

A RINO is a Democrat with an R after his or her name, what a generation or two ago was called a Rockefeller Republican.

Young Americans for Freedom was attacked for coming out against O’Connor. Howard Phillips (of the Conservative Caucus) was attacked for testifying against Souter. Coulter was attacked fro opposing Roberts.

By conservatives.

They were right, and their critics were wrong.

I am proud to have opposed all three — and Stevens too.

That’s why Trump’s Supreme Court list was so important. There had been fear that we’d get Soutered, but the list reduced that anxiety significantly.

Can we not read past the headline? The temporary capacity limit is 100, they say they typically get 300. Even Georgia isn’t letting 300 people gather at once.
