A lot of them live in places where they are denied self defense rights or cannot own effective weapons. Others are liberals and don’t believe in guns.

‘Better to be judged by twelve than carried by six.’

anyone doing so would be st upon by the mob; he might get a few, but he would have been torn limb from limb...highly unlikely any jury would ever hear his story...

Some have. And have been arrested for defending their property. We live in crazy times.

Actually, no - because the cops had obviously abandoned the city. No cops, no response. The cops came by a week or more later looking for the hardware but found about none of it.

If the cops hadn’t abandoned LA, they *would* have tried to take the defenders away - but the defenders might not have been there, fearing the cops more than the rioters.

I’m not trying to do an in-depth analysis on it, but it seems to me that a LOT of the areas this is happening have onerous gun laws and people just don’t want to go through the process of getting a gun as long as it doesn’t happen to them. But NIMBYism doesn’t help after the fact. They’re also lib-heavy areas population-wise and are conditioned to think guns are bad.

In Texas, using lethal force to protect property is within the law; in most other states you have to be under physical attack to justify it. Texas has the more sensible law. As a practical matter, until the NFA is repealed, belt-fed full auto isn’t common, and that is the only thing that will serve to protect life and property against hordes of savages.

"The MSM is avoiding most self defense reports in this."

The idea of self defense might catch on. For the LMSM, that could spoil their party.

We still have an admittedly dwindling faith in police protection. We are waiting to see if the Brute Squads can corral these Antifa goons.

If not, then we can escalate...

Keep in mind that the looters will always target the softest targets and steer clear of the places where homeowners and business owners shoot.

If you’re going to pull a trigger, you’d better be on the right turf, with the right reason, with the right back up when you need to reload, with the right ratio of bullets per targets, with the right political party sitting in the DA office, with the right attorney on your phone contact list.

Generally, the people who are the targets of the violence are people who have everything to lose and the people who are perpetrating the violence are people who have absolutely nothing to lose.

I think they were taken by surprise, expecting the protests to be freeway, intersection takeovers etc and not expecting the widespread looting

It is not that the police are unable to protect. They are unwilling to protect the innocent.

They are waiting for the innocent to capably defend themselves so they can protect the guilty.

These are leftist hell hole cities, after all.

“Anyone doing so would be set upon by the mob; he might get a few, but he would have been torn limb from limb.”
__________________________________________________________

After a bunch of the looters/rioters were shot, the others may have very well run away because, after all, they’re cowards when someone actually fights back.

I’ll also bring up the Jews in the Warsaw ghetto and other Jewish ghettos in Eastern Europe during World War II.

They were unarmed. If they had been armed, they would have not been able to defeat the Nazis, but they would have taken countless thousands of Krauts with them.
