Two Atlanta officers fired for using excessive force, mayor says
Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms apologized Sunday for what she said was clearly excessive force used by Atlanta Police in the arrest of two young African Americans during the city’s curfew crackdown Saturday night after protests over the police killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis last week.
Bottoms said she ordered the firings of two of the five officers involved in the traffic stop after reviewing the body camera footage with Police Chief Erika Shields. The other three officers are on desk duty, pending an investigation.
Lose-lose situation for the mayor. They are LEO who used excessive force, but 5 of the 6 officers are black. Even worse (Politically) for the police chief who is white.
She’s little more than a standard liberal pol; she decries the rioters, then gives them what they want.
2 black ‘students’ who VIOLATED a well advertised CURFEW & who c hose ‘to go get something to eat’.
IF they don’t have enough food on hand for ONE or TWO meals, then how can hey be smart enough to be ‘in college’?
The ‘students’ were wrong. The cops are paying the price.
The Whole city will pay the eventual price.
