What little I know about the Oathkeepers is positive. But Id rather that local militias (for the lack of a better term) be under the direction of the county sheriff. Even the 2A uses the term well regulated.
You want to use force to protect your home and property? Please do. You have that right. But these guys might be going a bridge too far, as they are talking about forming fire-teams (yes, they use that term). That makes me a little uncomfortable.
But if things continue to deteriorate, who knows - in a few months maybe Ill end up on one of those teams.
“Even the 2A uses the term well regulated.”
In the common-language at the time of the writing of the 2nd Amendment, ‘well regulated’ meant a well-supplied and sufficiently trained militia.
It did not mean a militia controlled or directed by government authority.
Tagging four people as a "fire team" is an organizational tool. Would you prefer calling them Peppermint Sparkle Parties? Oathkeepers is military, and they go with familiar titles, based on commonly shared experiences. Every Marine who ever lived was in a fire team.

We’re calling our group “The Affable Neighborhood Cupcake Welcoming Committee.” Prove us wrong.
