Grassley halts Trump nominees, demands answers on inspector general firings

Sen. Chuck Grassley has moved to halt consideration on two Trump administration nominees until the White House offers more information about why it fired two inspectors general.

The hold from Grassley will indefinitely block confirmation of Christopher Miller as National Counterterrorism Center director and Marshall Billingslea as undersecretary of state for arms control and international security.

“Congress has made it clear that should the president find reason to fire an inspector general, there ought to be a good reason for it,” said the Iowa Republican, who added that it was important Americans not “be left speculating whether political or self-interests are to blame. That’s not good for the presidency or government accountability.”

Grassley represented parts of Butler County in the Iowa House of Representatives from 1959 to 1975.[7] He then served in the United States House of Representatives from 1975 to 1981.[8] - wikipedia

I’m sorry but lock Grassley up in an old folks home. He’s been in office since 1959.

He has been in office since I was a year old. I am semi retired now.

He needs to be put on an ice floe and pushed out to sea.

The rat runs deep in the GOP. I don’t trust a single Republican in the House or Senate.

He has become a worthless POS who probably will soon follow Creepy Uncle Joe into a nursing home. And not as a visitor.

So give him the reasons, in all their detail. Surely, somebody in this administration is smart enough to write it up.

Now, where are all the Freepers who were defending Chuckie boy here as “a true conservative” and “one of the good guys?”

Atkinson should be easy enough to explain. I don’t know the details of the other guy.

Why doesn’t Trump pick up the phone and chat with Grassley, who has shown himself to be reasonable in many areas before.

But that will be wasted time better spent elsewhere and where was Grassley when Obama fired everyone?

What does one thing have to do with the other?

Grassley is a part of the establishment that doesn’t want President Trump to succeed again. In essence, they are afraid of the American people.

Grassley halts Trump nominees.

Will we even notice the difference. The clowns in the Senate have been doing a lousy job on approving nominees (with few exceptions) since Trump was elected.

“Congress has made it clear that should the president find reason to fire an inspector general, there ought to be a good reason for it,” said the Iowa Republican …
Well, thanks for making it crystal-clear that you are on the side of the Democratic Congress, Mr. (Gr)assley.

All who serve at the pleasure of the President (as the DOJ members do) can be fired at any time and for any or no reason, just as (most likely your ideological fellow traveler) James Comey said.
