This is why we absolutely need federal legislation to prevent employers from firing anyone based on any of their social media posts, or those posted by someone else who may have caught the other individual on camera. Yes, this would protect left wing nuts as well from firing, but is that really much of a concern anyway? And yes, we need to enforce that all social media companies are indeed platforms and stop all censorship immediately. And I literally don’t give a damn that this isn’t a “conservative” position. Our culture is literally at stake. We must stop these companies from silencing free speech under threat of job loss.

My company has a memorial for George Floyd this month, a Juneteenth event this month, and gay pride month (but they now hang the flag all year long next to the state and US flag)

I seem to recall some other people losing their jobs for belonging to GAB or some site that has been tainted by presentations from the Left.

It would seem that there is hate speech etc at Reddit, Facebook, and Youtube. Membership on those sites should be as suitable if one social networking site is.

And I seem to recall it was someone at the IRS who illegally leaked the list of names (DOXed them).

no! They are public utilities and they get special consideration for being “platforms”. We need to enforce their no censorship mandate that comes with this.

and not using these platforms would still not protect you against someone taking video of you and posting it. We need to legislate that employers not look at employees social media or make any hiring or firing decisions based on anything that appears on social media - under penalty of a crippling fine.

Business can set their own rules and the first amendment says, CONGRESS shall make no law.

However some businesses come under contracts with unions or individual contracts that show firing “for cause” only. Posting on a site a political opinion his not “for cause” to be fired.

I worked for the state of Cal Political speech was not one of the reasons you could be fired, however, they would shun you and take away your duties or find some other reason to get rid of you.

So they can speak their political minds on social media and reference their employer but one man gives his own money and is not required to make a public declaration when he does it AND the ballot initiative is popularly approved (it won) that means that anyone who VOTED for it could likewise face termination.
